Best Local Authentic Thai Food in Ao Nang
Are you wondering if there are any real authentic local Thai restaurants in Ao Nang?
If you’re a little bit like me you may be getting sick and tired of running the gantlet of the dozens of Indian restaurant owners accosting you with their “Indian Food, Thai Food, Sea Food, Pizza, Happy Hour Big Chang” mantra.
Fortunately, I’ve found a new truly authentic Thai restaurant I can wholeheartedly recommend.
A little bit tucked away just 5 minutes’ walk from Ao Nang Beach, it is called Thai Rice Restaurant.
It is run by a local Thai lady called ‘Get’ and they serve the most delicious, authentic, tasty Thai food. I’ve tried several dishes and everything there is delicious without exception.
The prices are very reasonable, ‘Get’ and her staff are super friendly, professional and attentive.
Check out the Blackboard Menu by the entrance of the alley, you’ll see some amazing specials on there. The restaurant is open 7 days a week from 4pm to 12 midnight.
I quizzed ‘Get’ a little bit about her restaurant.
She opened it very recently in August 2022 and is very excited about offering authentic Thai food to her customers. 'Get' sources all ingredients daily from the fresh-market next to Makro, she believes in locals supporting locals and you can’t get any fresher fruit, vegetables and seafood than from the local market.
But wait – there is more!
Not only do you get delicious, mouth-watering Thai meals at ‘Get’s restaurant, she also has a small cosy lounge bar called ‘Secret Bar’ right next to her restaurant where you can settle in after your meal, sip an amazing cocktail and relax into the evening.
‘Get’ herself is a very skilled Bartender and her Cocktails are as good as you would find in any 5-star hotel – without the price-tag and served with the most welcoming and friendly smile.
Smooth background music compliments the setting, never too loud to be in your face, just creating the right ambience to chill out with a cool refreshing cocktail. The cocktails are all 140 baht at the time of writing, that is amazing value.
If you have a hankering for a truly authentic Thai dish, perhaps followed by a cool crisp cocktail to relax into the evening - I suggest you check out Thai Rice Restaurant in Ao Nang.
You’ll love it just as much as I do and might come back for seconds!
