I'm living next door, so get to see it each day. Built in 1844. Beautiful building.
Amazing Big Buddha surrounded by smaller ones.
Murals on the walls are wonderful.
Serene place to spend some time.
Wheelchair parking. Lots of parking.
Sit on a chair in the shade under the trees.
Wander around the grounds.
You can purchase candles, incense and flowers to make merit and say prayers for your family and friends.

Just a shame the grounds weren't better kept. Or the garbages emptied.

Quiet Buddhist temple located near the city centre of Chiang Rai and only a five minute walk from the City Bus Terminal. Large golden Buddha sitting at the altar, well preserved paintings on the walls, and a welcoming colourful entrance makes it looking very similar to other temples. Worth visiting, just to rest from ladyboys met on the same street.

Stumbled upon this when walking in Chiang Rai. Very peaceful to sit down in for a few minutes.

It's decorated very ornately and has a genuine warm and welcoming feel to it

Built in 1844 and became Third Grade Royal temple in 1978. The towering golden Buddha in the prayer hall is impressive. The large lawn and big grounds in the city center makes this special too.

One of the least visited temple in the city center of Chiang Rai. Located on the same street as the lady bars. It also has a namesake temple in Chiang Mai, but they are quite different. While Wat Jed Yod in Chiang Mai has a the brick chedi with a beautiful stucco decorations, here the chedi has no stucco, is painted white but is complete. The veranda is richly decorated with floral themes and ceiling and as astrological fresco. A large golden sitting Buddha with a very friendly expression on His face surrounded by colorful murals. Behind the main building stands the white chedi with seven golden arrows - Jet Yod means seven peaks in Thai.

Wat Jed Yod is one of my favourite temples in Chiang Rai, a small city in the extreme North of Thailand, that has a great number of beautiful temples. Not only the main temple structure but also the seven spired chedi adjacent to the main building is exquisitely beautiful.

I spent about a year living in Chiang Rai and I made sure to include this temple in almost all my daily bicycle rides in the area. There were never a lot of visitors at one time but there always seemed to be something going on, especially on Buddhist holidays, when distant relatives come to gather in their home towns.

It's my 2nd favourite temple in Chiang Rai. It's only about 5 minutes walk from the main bus station. It's pretty cool imo but I'm no temple expert ;-)
