I had the pleasure of staying at Paasook in 2007. It was the only hotel on the beach at the time, so not many other options unless you wanted to stay on Railay. For $5 how could you argue about any of it? It's a roof over your head, mosquito net, mattress, toilet and privacy. Exactly the type of place to stay if you want to chill out for a week and barely spend any money. If you enjoy camping, you will find these cabins perfectly comfortable.
This is not a room at the Hilton, it's a hut in the jungle. I understand others giving this place bad reviews, but they are forgetting it's $5 per night.

We enjoyed our little cabana. We originally were going to stay at Chill Out but glad we chose this place in passing instead. Our cabana was much larger than Chill Out and the owner gave us a fair price. Wifi is available at the office all day. Power to rooms are 6pm to 6am but they actually turned on before time and ran later in the mornings. We recommend this place.

I really can not recommend staying here. They offer rooms at 100, 200, and 300 Baht, and we stayed at a 200B bungalow.
The room floor and walls are very dirty and obviously not maintained, as is the toilet. The toilet seat looked very unhygienic, which was reason enough not to use it. The toilet, although separate from the bedroom, is not isolated from outside, and offers great housing opportunities for mosquitoes and other bugs. This in turn means, that you can't really use it unless you are masochistic and love mosquito bites. The bed was damp/wet and very soft, making it impossible to dissipate heat during the warm nights, even with the fan blowing at full power. We came back late during the night and wanted to wash our bodies from the sand and salt of the beach, only to get surprised by the absence of flowing water. Yay.
In short, nobody here cares about anything, and I would really recommend to check out the places right next door, as they offer a much better value for the same money.

Very basic (fan, cold shower, flush toilet, mosquito net, snails and lizards), but great price for small bungalow with porch near the wall of rock. Climbing right outside the door. Staff is great, and apparently you get 20% off the restaurant next door.

This place is quite hard to review because it's one of the cheapest places to stay and you get what you pay for and our expectations werebt high. We stayed in two of the bamboo huts (we moved down to a different one after a week). In off season these are 300 baht, rising to 600 come November so very cheap in relation to many places on tonsai or railay. You get a private room with fan and mozzi net, WiFi if you're in the lower huts, and a cold shower. If that's all you need then this place is 2.5* - ok.
Initially this was fine by us, we're used to basic accommodation. However, after 2 weeks we had to leave for somewhere else.
As other reviewers mention the walls are thin so we were woken up by a resident clearing his throat in his bathroom next door. Some mornings it was the rain or monkeys drumming on the tin roof. On two occasions we were woken at 6am by someone shooting a gun repeatedly.
The floor and walls in some huts are bamboo nailed down so some clothes ripped on nails and so did my foot.
The humidity in the jungle surroundings is occasionally oppressive and one of the main reasons we left was because all our belongings were getting wet and even mouldy just being there. This was especially bad in the wooden floored hut - I don't think the air circulates as well in these.
The rooms were dark and kind of miserable due to the lack of natural light and poor lighting. The sheets were also damp when it became humid. We were here for the climbing and so I had a number of small cuts on my hands which I tried to keep clean with my medical kit but I ended up with infected fingers. I can't say this is to do with the accomodation, but I'm pleased I'm in more clean and healthy surroundings now.

Ultimately, you get what you pay for and if you're going to pay very little you can't expect much. I also felt like paassook was marginally better than other comparable local places. If you can handle it, go for it but don't expect it to be that great. I don't quite get how people have rated it 5* - by Google's rating system that's 'excellent'. It's definitely not excellent. Personally I've rated it 3* as 'ok'.

Smells of sewage in the room. Only 1 outlet to charge things and they only have the power on 6PM to 6AM but because it's freaking hot you need that one outlet to run the crappy fan. The bed is stained as are the sheets, I refused to even use the pillow because of how disgusting it was. Holes all over the mosquito net. They are asking way too much money for what you get, I would feel cleaner sleeping outside.

Paasook resort is like family now, I had 40 really nice days in paasook. The girls at the reception are really nice, ask them anything, the answer will be yes with a smile. The small bungalows are not the best but the mediums are actually better than my expectations. In tonsai you don't need much so paasook is enough to sleep in spacious clean room and go to climb. This is in the jungle so you have to share your environment with many animals lizard frog and monkeys which is good for nature lovers. I will definitely come back
