McDonalds is centrally located to the pier and an easy landmark..although the recent burger King is first noticed from the pier. The McDonald's is air conditioned and has lots of space as it's a 2 story restaurant. Unfortunately it's also used as a waiting point for those leaving the island because it offers air conditioning while you wait so it's very crowded. The food is more expensive than I expected for a Thai location. The reason for the 2 star rating is McDonald's has the opportunity of doing the right thing and offering a no or low cost filtered water option but chooses to put profit in front of the environment by selling a bottle of water for 1 dollar. I realize they stand to make less by offering a filtered water station but suggest they have the infrastructure to offer a vending machine that sells filtered water for your canteen and significantly reduce the amount of plastic used for bottled water. Then I won't mind paying 1.50 usd for am ice cream cone
