We’ve spent 1 week there back in 2018. For the price, I cannot complain even if there was no A/C but there was a fan. Some stuff are broken too but nothing serious. But value for money. 15mins walk to city center. 7/11 is near. People working there are very nice and helpful. We even had breakfast. Also we tasted the best ice coffee ever and by far. There was a lady and her husband having a street food stall just right around the corner of the main road. My god, we drank this ice coffee over 20 times and quality and taste was same.

Also if you are expecting 5 stars service for the price then you should go to a nice hotel.

To be fair it is one of the cheapest hostels you’ll find about, especially as it comes with a free breakfast (beware the powered milk though, it’s made from palm oil).
The majority of the staff are lovely. The boss Tommy, however, is one of the most unhelpful and rude hostel staff I’ve ever met. Completely disinterested in trying to help you or make your stay comfortable. Does not look like he wants to be there at all, except to throw his weight around.
Do not expect your sheets to be cleaned before, during or after your stay. 2 people from my room were left waiting outside for an hour because there are only 3 keys to a 7 bed dorm.
The building itself is nice but it is clearly being neglected under new management. There is no atmosphere to the place. If you’re looking to hang out with fellow travellers this is not the hostel for you.
So yes it is cheap. But pay 20baht more and get a place in town with clean sheets, a decent atmosphere and no Tommy.

Nice place for backpacker and motorbike tour enthusiasts. Plus they offer all kinds of tours right there. Staff is really. Nice and rooms are generally decent. Unfortunately the way to center of town was relatively long with 20-30min walking. But would still come back :)

Good place, clean and friendly. My son loved the staff - very friendly and helpful. On the last day when we needed to check out he wanted to stay with his 'friends' and not leave. This place is indeed more of a camp/hostel but has a big heart, a nice atmosphere and a good vibe. I knew we'd not be spending much time at the place as we wanted to travel so this allowed us to do that. If you expect hotel standards then you probably won't like this place, but if you want a good place, cheap, clean and friendly then this place is fab.

Staff is amazingly friendly and helpful, especially Scott. Great English, good with directions, fun conversation. It's a nice quiet place for a more mature backpacker looking to explore the area around Chiang Mai, rather than just party. Prices are awesome, I paid less for my 3 night stay here than I did for two nights inside Old Town, and they have free breakfast here too! And I have my own private bathroom with actual hot water and good pressure! The surrounding restaurants are much more authentic and cheaper than in old town also! I will most certainly come back! Don't be a typical Pharang! Stay outside of Old Town for a much more authentic Chiang Mai experience!

The room was dirty- oily stains on the walls, spider webs in the corners and furniture covered in dust. The hostel is really noisy. The staff turns on loud music and starts yelling sth to each other at 8/7 o'clock in the morning and this continues till 11 p.m. Laundry service-they told me doing the laundry will take one day. After 3 days still wasn't ready. I took it off the drying rack and folded it myself. Some of the things were still dirty.
Positive sides- it is really cheap and breakfast is included (pad Thai or rice)
If you are traveling alone and looking for some company, this is a good place to meet new people

Good cheap hostel. It's located 3 km outside of Chiang Mai old town which makes it a bit of a hassle to get into town. They do have a couple of bikes you can borrow for free if you want to, and that makes it possible to get into town quickly and cheap. Some of the beds are really hard, but the rooms are pretty clean. The breakfast consists of rice with vegetables or chicken and coffee/tea.
