Excellent northern Thai food. The black pork tom yum dish especially stood out. It comes with a cinnamon stick burning in it and the cinnamon flavor was absorbed amazingly by the meat. Also enjoyed the eggplant, the pomelo salad with shrimp, and the fried snapper with spicy sauce.

A lot of the reviews and pictures are from a different Baan Landai, which is further south from here, towards the wall of Old City, so it seems some Google reviewers are confusing the two restaurants. The menu at this one is totally different. I showed photos from Google to the owner to ask which dish they were on the menu, and she pointed to a dish on the menu, but sure enough when they came out they were totally different dishes. I chose this restaurant because I wanted the stewed meat with onion and cinnamon stick I saw on Google, so I was a bit disappointed.

The food here tasted okay, but the portions were really tiny, and the price was above the average for Thai food in the area. We had to get a second dinner right after because we were still hungry.

Noodles were microwaved, the fruit salad had no fruit and was covered in salad cream and there were ants crawling everywhere. Really confused at the positive recommendations for this place and the inclusion in the Michelin Guide; perhaps the place has seen better days. The owner was sweet with our baby at least

Baan Landai in the Santitham area north of the Old City (as there is another branch), is an excellent family feel restaurant with sumptuous dishes. I particularly love the chicken stew dish with its wonderful flavours. The peach iced tea is also great!

Pork ribs in red wine were fall of the bone juicy and delicious. We also got the grapefruit shrimp salad and pumpkin egg pork which were great also. The owner/chef is really proud of his food and you can tell in his cooking.

This place is great! Was really one of the best meals I've had in all of Thailand. I had the spicy fried fish with pineapple and it was so good! But extremely spicy, so if you're not great with spice let them know when you order - they're very very friendly.
And the Baan landai signature cocktail is sooooo delicious I highly recommend ordering this!

As for the restaurant itself, they've gone to a lot of effort to make this place clean, comfortable, and just a pleasure to be in; its so nicely decorated, if I'm ever back in Chiang Mai I will be eating here again!
