Freedom Beach

Freedom Beach is a public beach but to get there you will have to enter through private land.

You can park at The Lek Sand Beach Bar which is owned by the landowner and walk down to the beach from there.

Note that it is “FREE” no entrance fee, no parking fee. There is other entrance to the Freedom beach but they charge you 200 baht/person

Really enjoyed Freedom Beach. We didn’t take the paved way up so our journey was a bit bumpy on a bike with two people. Once we parked we saw lots of pigs and were directed to the path leading down to the beach. No one asked for payment for parking. We then took a bit of a downhill jungle hike. Took around 15-20 to get down. Very pretty! But, hot. Wouldn’t recommend with any kind of sandal or something you might slip around in. Beach was beautiful, white sand. We snorkeled around for 45 or so minutes and the visibility was great. Saw a few fun fish! Enjoy the sweet local pup who begged for food. For the trek back out we went barefoot and it was much easier. We then took the paved way back down the mountain which was way nicer of a ride and also took us by a pretty stunning viewpoint. Definitely recommend, it’s worth it!

The beach is good and not too crowded. There are a few locals selling drinks and grilled goods.

All on all it was not worth the hassle though. Depending on which way you go it's quite the long and steep walk through the jungle.

We went one way down and up the other. One has a small cafe at the top, that is the harder/longer one, I'd use the other. There was nobody collecting an entrance fee either.

We stopped at the 7eleven shop which is 10 minutes walking away from the beginning of the freedom roadway. 100 baht for one road of 700 meters down to the beach. Wear good shoes for the hike up and down. The beach was cute. I believe the beach would have been stunning if the sea was calm without the storm. Liked the vibe. There is all day drinks and food.

A very nice beach but has minimal services. Walking is a serious hike up and down a steep hill that is not truly worth it A private long tail boat from Patong beach that waits for you to enjoy the beach for 3 hours costs 1000 baht, and again the beach is nice but not that nice. It was fun.

If you are going there by Grab/Bolt, do set your drop off point as the Lek Sand Beach Bar. This is a free entrance and do not need any entry fee. The trek down and up is quite trying but absolutely manageable. Went on a Monday and the beach was not packed! Beach Vendors are sufficiently stocked, so you do not need to worry about lugging down snacks or water that may add weight to your trek! Definitely recommend!!

Definitely one of the top three beaches in all of Phuket. A bit of an adventure to reach but worth the effort. I'm aware of three entry points. Two charge 100bht per person and the third, and best trail, is free. Travel further up the dirt road to reach "Lek Sand Beach Bar" for free entry.

The beach has an excellent sand base and is kept super clean. The workers offer free mats for laying out and multiple food and drink options. Also, a good place for snorkeling.
