As soon as you enter the main hall you get a sense of how holy this wat is. It may be busy but that doesn't detract from the experience of seeing Phra Phuttha Chinnarat for real. An awe-inspiring experience, enhanced by the senior dance troupe on a Sunday morning.

Absolute display of Thai Buddhism. So clean and peaceful. Icon is so huge yet so calm. Lots of tourists are always here at every time. So a bit crowded. But worth visiting.

This site holds the second most revered statue in Thai Buddhism, the Phra Budtasishinarat. A 14th century casting of three statues one of which still resides here in Phitsanulok. It's unique for it halo which looks aflame while still following the rules of Sukhothai era statues. The temple itself is a nice example of Northern Thai architecture and the main hall is decorated with stories from the life of Lord Buddha. Around the hall are statue halls, alcoves and a few very nice stupa or chedis as well as a drum and bell tower. Toilets are clean and the souvenirs surprisingly good quality and a fair price. If you are going north you should visit this temple, but remember to respect the local culture and dress modestly.

This temple is named " WAT PHRASRIRATTANA MAHATHAT VORA-MAHA-VIHARA " but itis called by genral people as WAT PHRA SRI or WAT YAI. Inside the chapel, there is the MAIN Buddha image which is called by Phitsanulok people as "LUANG-POR-YAI" or wellknow by general Thai Buddhists as "PHRA BUDDHA-CHINNARAJ" Wat Yai is registed as The Royal Temple for Phitsanulok and regarded as the center of worship revered by people of Phitsanulok, Thai Buddhists kingdom as well as Foreigers.
