Let me count the ways in which this hostel was quite simply awful. 1. Our double bed suite was frankly a prison, lacking any windows or sources of natural light. 2. The "AC" box rooms have centralized cooling running through them only from 6 PM to 9 AM the next day. This means in the absence of any other form of air flow (remember there aren't any windows or any fans), the room can get incredibly stuffy, airless, and hot. 3. The "private" room's air conditioning is not only subject to the hostel's ridiculous policy but also that of your neighbors. Despite being in a pod by yourself, the cooling functions in a quadrant fashion, so your neighboring room's inhabitants feeling hot translates into your room's cooling being turned down—just so you can have the pleasure of waking up sweaty and out of breath. And all of this within that infuriating time period when they're supposed to be running the cooling! If I wanted to be a victim to my roommates' whims and fancies, I would have selected a dorm. 4. The place lacks any sort of ambiance and holds no events to bring people together. 5. The bathrooms are rarely cleaned. Once a day is hardly enough when the volume of people using it is high. There's pee on the seats, wet floors, and toilet paper strewn about soaking it all in. It also doesn't smell too great. 6. The temperature adjustment for the shower head is placed out of reach of women, unless you're of the Amazonian variety, you won't be getting your hands on that! 7. The "beds" are mattresses on the floor. 8. The electric outlet (yes, just the one) is inconveniently placed. 9. The receptionists are barely conversant in English and almost always rude, unhelpful, apathetic, and almost reluctant to acknowledge a paying customer's presence. Don't expect any help from them should you have a problem with the facilities. 10. A towel is not a suitable replacement for a blanket. 11. There aren't enough hangers to dry your clothes on. 12. There is no lift so expect to carry your luggage up by yourself with no help from the staff.
On the other hand, the rooms are clean, they offer free usage of board games and hammocks, free printouts, and have a couple of nice people at the front desk.
