I had a lovely 2 night stay here. Was greeted by friendly staff who explained where to go in Chiang Rai. The room was clean and comfortable. My only suggestion would be to make the included breakfast more substantial.

One of my favorites. The owner is genial and very fun to talk to. The name probably refers to the 7 generation of cats and kittens that live there. They are super adorable and are a result of too many cats at the local temple. The mom and pop cats here are frisky. Rooms are very clean and outdoor seating is lovely. Close to everything. Look for the little wooden sign on the post right at the corner of the wat.

I came here the second time with a friend. After the first night the manager recommend me to go to a hot spring place up in the hills. The drive up was full of beautiful scenery but the hot spring was a little rundown. I went for a swim in the big pool and got a cut on my foot. That was pretty bad due to having to walk a lot while you are traveling. The manager of Chat House saw me limping off of the rental scooter and ask if I dropped the bike. After she heard my story she got some iodine and bandages for my wound. That was a nice gesture

chat house is a great place to stay. Fedio ( manager) u0026 staff could not do enough for me. good clean rooms, yes i will stay there again,very safe for a family,close to the markets

Should be called cheat house, not chat house. We arrived to Chiang Rai for one night because we wanted to move to Laos, we didn't really know how to do that so we asked the reception lady. She told us about a package that including a private minivan, that takes us directly to Luang Namtha (Laos) . We heard before about people, who were deceived and paid for a private van and eventually got the local bus, so we asked her if she is sure it's a private van. She said it is. She also told us that the van will be waiting for us at the border to convince us it worth the money (1100 THB for each). She seems very nice and decent so we believed her and bought the tickets. When we arrived Laos there Wasn't minivan at all, we got a ride from the company to the local bus- exactly the opposite of what we paid for.
When we tried to talk with the guesthouse, they said we didn't understand correctly. They insisted that they said its a drive by local bus, that was a lie! The lady knows English very well, so there wasn't any place for confusion.
We hope no one will be deceived in this guesthouse anymore. Have a good trip!

This is the absolute best and friendliest place you can imagine!
Very clean, very organised and every guest is looked after individually.
Food is absoluetly fresh and cooked just the way you order it.
It is a guest house yes but HE: DO NOT MISS OUT ORDERING A MEAL THERE. Sit outside ehen the dawn comes in and just enjoy!

Chat guesthouse is a nice, quiet and clean place to stay. Not in the center but still very close. Therfore it is close to one of the main temple. Nice service. Wi-Fi ok. Laundry incredibly expensive..
