3 Thailand Mountain Trail - a week ago

Very busy public hospital. Some good points (nurses and some doctors) but we changed to the other public hospital of Chiang Mai as this one was too busy and some doctors didn't care at all about our problems. We were especially very angry with the plastic surgery department. The two doctors there spend only one day of their time for public hospital and don't care at all about patients (skin disease, bed sore, scarfs...).

Be aware, stay away from this hospital! Seemingly staffed entirely by inexperienced students with limited English skills. Untrained Ambulance EMTs were confused about what to do with a tourist with a stroke. After guiding them to assistive measures they took the tourist to this hospital (across town, passing many better hospitals). Emergency room was unsanitary (blood puddles go uncleaned, medical gear is only wiped and not properly sanitized, etc), and personnel were slow and unsure about treatment methods. Choose a different hospital, this one is straight from a horror movie.

Went to emergency room at 4am to get heart checked out. Everything went very smoothly, very good english spoken by the doctors. Their questions were very thorough and they were very kind. The price was also very reasonable. Great service.

Fantastic job re cataract surgery, but I got a case of scabies that I didn't catch for two years. You lie on a bed for 2-3 days for each eye, then someone else gets the bed. More care needs to be done to wash the bedding in HOT water to kill mites. These can be extremely serious and painful and can go wild on older people causing organ damage and death. I wasn't able to find a way to let the hospital know about this. It's a very busy place, but I don't think scabies is a good thing to let go.

when you come for help they say one price. and when you get it, at the checkout they call another. very bad attitude

Arrived at the hospital around 6:30pm due to a motorbike accident 2 days prior. I was concerned about my leg and hip from the fall and wanted to check with a doctor to make sure everything was fine. Everything seemed to be closing up but a doctor saw me looking a bit lost and told me that I could head to emergency after making a short call. Super proactive. Triage in emergency was super quick, waited in the waiting room for maybe 1hr, and saw a competent, friendly doctor who took the time to look at my injuries thoroughly and assured me that nothing was broken. I had a great experience here. Everyone was friendly, professional, and spoke English. Very cheap emergency room visit. I was prescribed antibiotic ointment and pain killers for my fairly deep leg wound (it's still bleeding 3 days later) and the doctor said I could come back if I needed help dressing it in the future. Awesome! Totally recommended.

Went for treatment for a dog bite, turning up late in the evening. Was seen to promptly in the ER department. The staff were friendly and helpful with good spoken English. Received a tetanus injection and anti rabies injection. Had to return a few days later for a second anti rabies injection. Though the hospital was a lot busier during the day, the service and staff were again very good. Total cost for both visits was just over 1100baht.
