As a newer hostel, I thoroughly appreciated how clean it was! From the bedroom and bathroom to the laundry station outside, I was always impressed by the cleanliness. You can feel a genuine, positive attitude by the owner and he is always around to help get you something or give suggestions on how to spend your day. He was fun to chat with too! Very welcoming. In terms of social atmosphere, I would have liked to meet more people as it was a little quiet but overall, worth it for your money.

Stranger House is a great hostel if you want a comfortable stay in a quiet neighborhood. It is close enough for me to the center to walk around 15-20 minutes or you can catch one of red taxis. Also a lot of neat places to eat and drink around hostel. At the front desk Nut will help you with everything. He gives good recommendations. And he is a fun guy to talk to. Not to mention the beds are the most comfortable beds I slept in Thailand so far...

Loved my stay at Stranger House! Nut, the owner, works tirelessly around the clock to make sure guests are happy. He has loads of information about Chiang Mai and creates a really social atmosphere. He even stayed up playing cards with us some nights. Super comfy beds, big lockers and cheap prices. Will definitely return if I go back to Chiang Mai!

Amazing stay. Nut and his girlfriend are so friendly and do everything possible to ensure you have a great time at the hostel and Chiang Mai. Perfect social atmosphere, especially for solo travelers. While it’s not near the touristy things the neighborhood is really neat with tons of restaurants and great streets for waking around. Would definitely stay again!

I don’t think there is a better place you could choose to stay in Chiang Mai! The owners are so friendly and available to help concerning tours, day trips and buses to other cities for all the guests, and the free breakfast was top notch. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends. The hostel is kept clean and the beds ARE THE COMFIEST BEST beds I have ever slept in - bar my own bed. 10/10.

This hostel is just a bless! If you want a quite place with good facilities and good working environment, you're good to go. The WiFi worked really good and is fast! The bed is really comfortable and good/quite AC! Best sleep for about 6 weeks now! Facilities are super clean! Great breakfast! A lot of free time activities (like board games, TV with Netflix) are offered. The owner and his girlfriend are SO nice and welcoming!

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, plus available 24/7. Had tons of great reccomendations. Hostel was kept very clean and beds were very comfortable. Location was good, right between the old city and Nimman. Free breakfast was also a good bonus. Not as social as other hostels but still a great stay and pretty easy to meet people. There was also a cute cat named Cappuccino that loved to stop by for visits!
