Pretty good ribs and pulled pork. Not sure I would go over the top with praise, but they are very decent. And yes, you better call and reserve your rack (one rack feeds 2-3) or come early. They do sell out.
*Update: ribs even juicier on 2nd visit and also the apple pie is worth leaving a bit of space for in your stomach when feasting on the meats - definitely a dessert made in heaven, enough if shared.
Interesting explanation from the Texan owner on the difficulties of sourcing consistent quality grades of meat, which is what I've heard from other restaurant owners as well.

The BBQ was phenomenal. My wife and I had the pulled pork, ribs, and the brisket. The brisket was some of the best I've ever had. Don't get my started about the potato salad. Can't forget about the homemade apple pie and rum infused ice cream. If you haven't experience American BBQ or are missing it from the states, this place is a must. We will be coming back.

Delicious BBQ and a nice owner who cares about making good food. He's a new restaurant owner, so he's got a few things to smooth out, but I absolutely enjoyed my meal and the overall experience.
I had the Pulled Pork, the Ribs, and the Duck. My favorite of those three, as I expected, was the Pulled Pork. Sweeny, the owner, also gave me a taste of the Beef Brisket and the Pork Loin, both of which were amazing. Next time, I'll have the trifecta of Pulled Pork, Pork Loin, and Brisket. The flavor of all the meat was smokey good. I understand why he's serving duck, and it's great to have something non-standard, but I would have liked a bit of chicken instead. There is plenty of delicious BBQ sauce available to add to everything, but also a Thai spiced version of the same sauce base that was spectacular. For sides, I had the Lime Coleslaw and Cornbread. I very much liked the freshness of the coleslaw, but liked it even better when I took a bite of meat, sauce and coleslaw together. The cornbread was good, but every cornbread in my life will be compared to my grandmother's - and her's still wins. I look forward to going back. I'm happy to have Lone Star as an option in Chiang Mai.

**If you're driving a car, I suggest parking out of Suthep Road toward Wat Suan Dok, and walking down the lane to Lone Star. The soi is quite tiny and parking isn't so easy, but it's just a short walk to the restaurant from Suthep**

Having an amazing dinner there and tried for the first time the Texas barbecue style meat. The place is simple but lovely and the owner gently explained us the different step of this particular bbq cooking. If you look for a place to enjoy a good meal with rich yummy meats, you must defenitly give a try to this place. Just remember to save some space in your tummy for try the delicious apple pie with vanilla ice cream (everything homemade).

Great BBQ directly in the old town of Chiang Mai.
Was looking for a "non Thai restaurant" (after 2 weeks of having great Thai food)...
The "dude from Texas" is really nice and he makes some awesome ribs. (Maybe the best I had for years).
Also try the potato salad - delicious!

Authentic BBQ in Chiang Mai. Good food served by friendly owner from Dallas. Had brisket, ribs, pulled pork and enjoyed all. Sides were great as well- loved the beans! The potato salad was awesome as well! I’ve often been disappointed by restaurant potato salad; not here, he knows what he’s doing.

Our first time at Lone Star BBQ and everything was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

I ordered Bacon wrapped tenderloin with a side of Mac and cheese, while the husband, got a plate of pulled pork and Texas beans for his sides.

Aside from the meats, which we came here for, the Mac and cheese was the bomb! We also had sweet iced tea for our drinks. They came but they weren’t as sweet as we expected (grew up around family who were from Dallas and Houston, so we expected sweet, sweet southern iced tea).

Reminder: no parking for cars. Since our motorcycle had a flat, we had to take the car, we did park at the opposite street at Suandok Place for 20baht, and just walked a couple of meters. So, it’s really not a downside at all!

Great points:
The BBQ was good!!!
Serving size was also good!!!
Service was amazing, owner and pit master were both very attentive.
Atmosphere was chilled out and laid back.

Downside: get here early to get the brisket!!! They opened at 5:30 and when we got here at 6:45 pm, they were already sold out!!!!
