sun set at the top is absolutely beautiful. the whole temple grounds will glow with the sun going down. if you time it right in the evening you can see the monks do their chant at the end of their day. everything is very respectful and calm. its nice to head up there just to slow down.

It's a great National Park very close to the city. It's just 5kms, 10 minutes drive from the centre. It's very convenient but it's also a very beautiful area. It has great trails through wild jungle and beautiful forest. It goes through temples and waterfalls. It is also possible to go to the summit at 1700m high and enjoy a majestic view on all mountains around. It's definitely our favourite playground for trail running and trekking one day.

The only difficult thing is there is no marked footpath so it's almost impossible to go on one's own safely. It's important to know the area before going there. Prefer going there with a friend who knows or a specialised agency. Trails can be wild at some seasons and there might be venomous snakes. It can be a problem very quickly if you dont know the area well and dont have contact with NP authorities.

We rented motorbikes from our hotel for 300 bat per bike and drove up there.

I have never rented a bike and felt comfortable with the roads. Would recommend this way to see the temple. Very windy and fun road to drive

The place to visit to take a break from the crowds after the early morning giving of alms to the Buddhist monks and temple visits. The park has a few public places to sit and have a picnic. The air temperature is significantly cooler than the City of Chiang Mai and, if you're lucky, you may even get a refreshing breeze.

Beautiful drive up to park on motorbike. Didn’t care too much for market u0026 temple area (except Ing Doi Cafe, must stop). Drove a little further to the actual National Park area, quiet and clean with lookout over Chiang Mai.

An absolute must if you are in Chiang Mai. I have been to Chiang Mai on numerous different occasions and this temple has got to be the first thing that comes to mind when I hear Chiang Mai. There is also a amazing view point at the top. I would say it’s worth spending 1-2 hours at this location and the best time to visit would be at 9am as it isn’t to crowded at this hour. Be prepared to climb a long flight of stairs to the top. If you can’t brave the stairs there is also a tram looking lift which can also take you to the top for a small fee.
