The jewel in the crown of Chiang mai zoo, fantastic aquarium, the best I can recall seeing
225 baht for me to get in, but very happy to pay this.
If you like watching big fish cruise around, then this is the place for you

To be honest, I can only give two stars. As an aquarium, I think the equipment is too old. After I went in, I smelled the moldy carpet, and all kinds of fish tanks in it were not very clean. As an educational place, I think it was really bad. Even for that, the tickets are 225 baht for adults and 175 baht for children. It's totally not worth the price.

The aquarium is ok and large. Various animals. But poor maintenance made it look old and quite dirty.

(3 March 22) Saw half price offer, didn't realise coz 50% is closed. Only wanted to visit Aquarium, but had to buy Zoo tickets too and double the advertised prices as foreigner (220bht Farang tax) they should put that on website.
Aquarium (225bht) was very good 4 star. Try to see some of the rare feeding 'shows'.

Zoo quite poor 2 star.
It's very spread out over hills so do take the bus (+60bht). Seems to be built around a redundant monorail, animal exhibits are very far apart and many are empty when you get there. Same as every other zoos, animals often sleep all day. I'd not really recommended the zoo but you can't avoid it to see the fish. Sign posting was not great, easy to get lost, staff helpful. Most of the advertised feeding shows are shut. Not a great day.

The smell was not bad at all. The tunnel was really long and cool to see but we expected some bigger sharks. Fun to see for this price.

Maybe due to covid, the aquarium is not well maintained. No air-conditioning, dust on the glass, etc.
Hope things get better after the covid is over.

A bit underwhelming but a decent place and size. Great for kids (250 baht for adults).
