Adequate hotel on a good location easy within walking distance of the old city. Small pool, extensive breakfast.
Room was more or less renovated, with paint on the bathroom floor everywhere. Others are still being renovated.

Pleasant stay at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel. Nice but older building with some age, but rooms were spacious and some amenities provided. The hotel has a pool, bar and massage parlour. The breakfast was a generous buffet with some Western cuisines on offer as well. Good wifi and not too far from the old town. 30 minutes walk to the night bazaar and markets.

We firstly had a normal room. Very very bad smell (they might had a water leak somewhere in the past) mold and dirt in bathroom. Staff was very unfriendly upon arrival, we never experienced something like it on all our travels. After reporting this at our agency we got an upgrade to a very nice room. (comfort room), which was still loud due to thin walls, but had no smell and no mold.
Breakfast is ok, but I don't like instant Coffee .
Very close to the market and I really liked the fact that there is a free transfer to the night bazaar.
Overall, they deserve 2,5/5 but that's impossible to give so a 2 for now. Not the best hotel at all, not even the best staff, but nice location.

Disappointment of our thailand trip. The rooms were not clean, mold in the bathroom the sheets were broken and smelling very musty, just like all the fabrics in the room. The cupboard is full of dust and the ceiling full of dust threads. In the second room we had, there was even hair from a guest before us.
Staff cannot understand you at all, hardly speak any English. In addition, they were very unfriendly in the restaurant and shouted from the other side of the room if we could leave.
There are countless hostels better than this hotel for even less money!

One of the best hotel breakfasts I've had. They had a make your own khao sao table, omelette table, western and thai options. The rooms were clean, friendly staff, nice pool. Centrally located in the old town, so walking distance to all the temples and night/walking markets.

We were staying in a family room for 3 people. So,this hotel doesn't give you hand towels in a standard family room. Even if you ask them for one, they refuse. However, they do give a hair dryer and a kettle, but no arrangement of tea/coffee is available. You'll have to take your own coffee/tea,sugar and milk, if required. The room is spacious enough, but you might want to check the charging points, because not all of them are working. The rooms are not so clean, as in there is a lot of dust around and they don't check it before. The shower was not working in the room, which is why we had to change rooms, in which the AC was leaking. Only 1 Sanitary bag was available and after cleaning the the room, they didn't provide more of those, because I needed them, for obvious reasons! The WiFi works good, so no issues there.

The food is good, however there's not much in vegetarian. The staff is friendly and helps you out, but they understand little English.

I had booked the hotel directly through the hotel's website, but while checking out, the guy at the counter refused to give me an invoice initially saying that I've booked the room through a third party and not through the hotel directly. After much effort, he finally gave me the invoice.

The hotel is approx. 4kms from the airport and there are a lots of temples that you can visit on foot or take a bicycle. The tours that these hotels provide are expensive. You might want to hire a private taxi or red taxi (mostly drivers are friendly) and save a few bucks, as you can cover the places yourself instead of taking the tours. You have great street food and a lot of massage parlours at walking distance.

I'd give this a 3 on a scale of 1-5.

Happy Holidays to you!

The only reason this place is getting a 3 star is because the breakfast in the morning is great. The selection is fantastic for both Asian and Western cuisine.
The hotel itself gets 2 stars. We stayed here for two nights. The room felt like it hasn't been cleaned in a year. The rooms and the hotel are very dated. They haven't done a single upgrade or update since the hotel was opened by the looks of it.
The beds are uncomfortable and the bathrooms are horrible. I have stayed at hostels that were 10x better than this place.
We asked the front desk to call us a cab and showed them the name of the business and address we were going to and they sent us to the wrong location. It cost is twice as much and twice as long to get is to where we needed to be. We were not happy.
I would not recommend this place at all.
