Mostly dialed down Thai dishes (far less spicy then traditional Thai). The food was tasty, particularly for those who like a little less spice. Service was okay as well. Hard to tell what this place/area was like before Covid, a little depressing in March 2022.

Cute little restaurant/bar with good food and drinks at very low prices! We were surprised about the quality of the food in comparison to other places in that price range. Definitely back for more over the next few weeks.

Chaweng (and Koh Samui in general) is full of tourist trap restaurants and they charge ridiculous prices for average food. It really hurts to be dissatisfied, and to have been made a fool of, after paying through your nose - for eg we shelled out a 100 usd for two at a so called high end Italian restaurant which was so ordinary and pretentious, it was infuriating. Given this context, I really appreciate Lipsmacker which serves no nonsense and basic Thai food for cheap! Our generous meal was under 16 usd for two, but that meal could easily have fed three people. We had over ordered.

MY RECOMMENDATION: stick to Thai basics and you wont be disappointed. Ask for spice level of your preference- if you like Thai spicy, then ask for it or you’ll get tourist spicy (according to a review here). Make sure the waiter understands your order- things can get lost in translation! we asked for ‘just prawn /rather than seafood’ and he thought ‘no prawn in seafood’.

MY EXPERIENCE: We ended up here reluctantly as there was nothing else open at 1030 pm. We were happy to be seated outdoors, in the al fresco area by the street, which was charming and there was a gentle breeze blowing at night. We ordered a pad thai which was just 60 baht, two types of prawn stir fry which had atleast 10-12 medium large prawns (quite generous) for 150 baht, an incredible samui coconut for 60 bht (cheaper than anywhere else), stir fried morning glory (at 60 baht). We asked for Thai spicy, which can be a bit much for some, but we love that. We also got one disappointing dish- mango sticky rice, as the mango wasnt ripe enough. All in all our bill was around 600 bht and we ate to our hearts content and then some. For this price, I dont mind some misses in mostly hits.
