Unfortunately, ThongTapan Resort is dead as it have been sold to a 5 stars hotel group. So sad

This place is amazing. So peaceful and quiet and in the best part of the island in my opinion. Reception - super friendly and helpful, bungalows - simple but have everything you need. Free snorkelling gear and beach chairs to borrow. Nice restaurant (pricey though) and massage place.

Filthy room, especially the bathroom. Run-down resort and facilities. Very bad value for money. Sun loungers are given to anyone who asks, regardless of whether they are guests are not, so just take a cheaper room somewhere else and use their beach facilities. The provided beach towels are very thin and reminiscent of dish cloths.
The only upside was the receptionist who was very friendly and willing to help. However, reception is only open from 8am - 8pm.
The restaurant does not belong to the hotel, meaning you cannot charge to your room and you have to bring cash to the beach. The restaurant was, however, very good. The beach was also very nice, and the "resort's" only saving grace.
If I had booked more than two nights I would have left immediately or after the first night.

From the 1st day its was paradise, great service from the employees at the resort and you have a the ease of going to the town village with a lot of nice restaurants and the resort also has a variety of great dishes amd cocktails you can enjoy.

Perfect location, easy access to beach and friendly staff. Been here second time and we will return for sure.

Not a great stay.... Rooms are big, but the hygiene is bad... this place dates back to 1984, and it looks like it.. it's outdated and can't compete with the bigger and newest resorts in the area. Although the location and nature is great, you book a "resort". This is not a resort anymore.. Maybe in its glory days. Another issue for me was the food... Our stay included breakfast, but the breakfast options are limited because it's not a buffet. That by itself is not an issue, but then the food should be great and filling, it's not... There are a lot of issues with this resort.. so to sum it all up here are my pros and cons:
Pro
- Great locatie (beach, village with great food) for relaxing
- Good bed

Con's
- Outdated
- therefore old material: shower, looks, hammocks
- Bit overpriced
- Food could be better
- You can end up with no electricity for some reason
- No normal lock on the door but a seperate lock
