Staying here for close to a month was the best decision I've made since traveling to Thailand. If you're looking for a private room or shared rooms, look no further. Location is perfect as it has everything backpackers would need (ATM, 711, taxi stand, motorbike rental, beach) just a minute's walk from the hostel. The bar itself is pretty chill and is a great place to unwind or socialize with other guests. Food is also good and not overpriced. The hostel never fails to hype everyone up for upcoming parties, and even throws in free taxis to said events as part of their promos. I myself am not a party goer but I still enjoyed my stay thanks to the amazing people running Echo. Whether you are in Koh Phangan to party, to rest, or to heal, Echo Beach Resort is the place to book.

Good place to stay. A little bit noisy but if you are a talkative person there are a lot of people to communicate with.

Though had an issue. Cleaner has stolen my charger. Nit a big issue but unpleasant experience anyway.

She already took my stuff at 10:00 (i am not checked out at 10:00 so why do you touch it) away from the bed when she cleaned the room but to the bartender desk.

This time it just disappeared.

If you stay here keep your belongings secured even cheap ones.

(Edited) Tricky one. There are lots of positives, but there is a major negative that drags it all down.

To start with then, the negative. Those beds. You can't call them beds. They are genuinely not mattresses. The seating at the bar were genuinely more comfortable. It's a good thing it's a party island and people are generally here to drink, else you wouldn't sleep. The (private) rooms are incredibly basic: just the table to sleep on, two bedside tables, window with blinds and, mercifully, air con. Nothing more. Also, there was not a first aid kit to help with a small problem. Edit: it seems there are bed bugs in the rooms too.

The positives:
Wonderful communal area. Great bar, relaxing area with sofas, pool table area, good restaurant food, lovely beach access with bean bags and hammocks. They put on a DJ on the night of the full moon party and keep the booze flowing. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful.

All in all, there are lots of great things about this place, but some of the basics just aren't there. I would not return, unless they invested in real mattresses, in which case I certainly would. Edit: probably not when you throw in bed bugs to the situation.

Heard a lot of hype about this hostel, it was good but the beds were very uncomfortable (why can't places invest in nice pillows!) and the top bunks didn't have a side rail so I have no idea how people don't end up falling off! The communal area and vibe were great although I thought that more could be done to make it more vibey on the beach. The sea itself is not swimmable and is actually incredibly dirty as all the rubbish seems to collect in the corner next to the pier where the hostel is. The main places to eat nearby are all fancy overpriced cafes but there are a few Thai restaurants nearby which offer fantastic food for a great price. Would recommend for the full moon party as it's busy and fun to stay at.

Hostel life is a life away from home.
It’s a shelter for people from all over the globe to socialize, live and learn from one another. Echo Beach was exactly that. There were people ranging from Brazil to Australia, and we shared stories, laughed, cried picked each other back up and did all over again the next day. We look forward to seeing one another and meeting even more people when they check in.
From the moment I came in I was welcomed with open arms by the manager Sky, his positive energy and warm personality was contagious and unified people from various backgrounds. The setting near the beach adds to a relaxing and hospitable open area. It allows for everyone to listen to music, swim in the pool or beach (yes, there is both) and just get to know one another… maybe with a piña colada in one hand as well :)
Hostel life is a family and that’s what Echo Beach Hostel represents.

One of the most welcoming, peaceful and friendly hostel I've been in Thailand. The beach view is wonderful. There are hammocks in which you can stay. You can order hand made local Thai food, you can order drinks, there is a cool little bar where you can sit, there are plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs for everyone. Great cosy soft little music. The dorms, the beds, the bathrooms are good. The staff is really onboard and sooo friendly !! This is truly one of the most relaxing place I've been in my life.

I wish I could give 0 starts or less - this is the most appalling place me and my partner have stayed at and we've been travelling through SE Asia for 3 months now. The facilities are gross - when we arrived late in the day the new beds weren't done, there's lack of toilet paper and soap and dirty floors. There's no drinking water. They "proud" themselves for not selling water bottles to reduce plastic but then don't top up their water station, leaving you effectively with no option but to get out of there and go to the shop. In the photo - that open window without sound proofing next to the bar bombarding horrible and tasteless loud music from 8am until 2am? Yes, that's right, it's a BEDROOM. We stayed there, it's appalling that you'd pay for a room you can't sleep in. And when there's no music, no worries, you'll get the people chatting loudly and playing pool until morning - no curfew, no respect. There's no shared facilities where you can chill, you need to be constantly surrounded by this needlessly loud music - it's claustrophobic to stay here. There wasn't a single person we met that was happy to stay here. They make you book 4 nights minimum in Hostelworld - it's a con. They know it's so bad, you'll want to get the hell out of there. It also says it accepts card payments - it doesn't. And when asked about it, the owner just laughs in your face. Avoid this place at all costs.
