No doubt in giving Black Turtle 5 stars, their open water course is exceptional and thorough. From our initial communication with Matt and Tim, they made everything as easy as possible for us, including the advise on which course to approach. Master instructor Lucas clearly knows everything there is to know about diving and understands how to make people comfortably learn skills that may seem daunting at first, combining with some humour along the way. Instructor Sam was more than happy to add some early morning extra pool time to perfect a skill I was struggling with, I was full of appreciation for this. The open water dives were excellent, really interesting sites and lots to see.

Black Turtle’s dive equipment is top notch and they definitely have the best boat on the island, comfortably fitting a large amount of people. The coffee biscuits are also delicious!

If you’re wanting to do any diving, or a course on Koh Tao, go with Black Turtle you will not be disappointed. Thanks to everyone we encountered at our time there, we’ll definitely be back!

A must book!
Black Turtle Dive were effortlessly professional throughout our Open Water Course. From Matt who helped organise, to Tim in the dive shop and all remaining staff we met. Special mentions to our awesome Instructor Sam who was so dedicated, and our incredible Master Diver Lucas who kept us on our toes and shared some of his wisdom between making us laugh.

I felt so safe within the whole experience, all equipment was in excellent condition and such a great boat to spend time between dives.
Undoubtedly one of the best few days of our entire 6 month trip, an incredible team, I would not think twice before recommending black turtle to anyone. Hope to see you again in the future!

I always wanted to try scuba diving but because I had surgery on my ears when I was young I was always apprehensive. The team at Black Turtle was very understanding of this concern and took the time to explain all the possibilities so I could take an informed decision. They never disregarded the risks and they were very realistic when managing my expectations (even though this could mean I wouldn't do the course with them). My first experience was a Discover Scuba Diving and because my ears didn't cause any problem I went ahead and completed the Open Water Course. My instructor Lauren was 5 stars and guided me through it all very smoothly, professionally and kindly, making this one of the best experiences I have ever had.

Everyone at Black Turtle is lovely and so helpful, from office (thanks for everything Tim ????) to boat staff u0026 instructors. They transpire to have a good team spirit (like a family) and this happiness clearly passes to their customers. I wouldn't doubt to do further courses or dives with them.

Even though not an expert, all of the equipment seem in great shape and so does the boat. Treats, fresh fruit and beverages free on offer on the boat put the cherry on top of the cake. Long live Black Turtle!

Amazing Diving School!

I went to Koh Tao to do some fun dives and thought about doing a rescue course. After the fun dive I decided to do the course - the staff, the boat and the people at Black Turtle are amazing and very professional.

I can really recommend the course as well as the fun diving trips. Thank you to Burak who is a great instructor and also Carrie, you both did a great job. We were a group two only, so it was very personalized and not a big group.

Diving at Black Turtle has been an amazing experience. I did my advanced open water course with them and had access to new, clean equipment, knowledgeable instructors (thanks Instructor Lily!), the newest boat on Koh Tao, and a friendly community. Diving was fun but also felt that safety was a top priority for everyone working there. I had an amazing time and a lot of it is because of the team at Black Turtle. Local conveniences also include Ananda Villa (clean, lovely hotel with reasonably priced laundry, motorcycle rental, and sweet staff) and Breeze (great outdoor restaurant/cafe great for everything from WFH to happy hour sunset beers). Highly recommended!

Had the most amazing time learning how to dive here. I enjoyed the open water course so much that I extended my trip in Koh Tao to be able to do the advanced course. All the equipment was provided and was new and clean. All the instructors were super friendly, and made me feel very welcome over the 5 days that I spent with them. A special thank you to Fazzi, who was incredibly patient with us while we were learning in the pool, and very knowledgeable of the dive sites and the wildlife once we got out in the open water. I cannot recommend black turtle dive highly enough and I will be most certainly returning.

I did my Open Water Diver, my Advanced Open Water Diver and some Fundives with Black Turtle. It was an amazing experience! Our Instructor was very patient. He accepted our personal struggles and helped us through it in a way that built up confidence.
In general, the whole school is working very professional and well organized. The boat dock is only a few meters away. The boat itself is really nice and big, with toilets, showers and snacks, including fresh fruit when you get out of the water after the first dive. There is also a Restaurant and accommodation belonging to the dive school. The price for accommodation is not included, but you get a discount.
The pool where we did our skills was very nice and part of a quite luxurious Resort.
The Black Turtle Dive staff is kind and seems to be a big family all with the same passion. When you are open minded you can get integrated quickly and of course have a lot of fun!!

The only negative aspect was maybe, that sometimes the time shedule can get pretty rough on the boat, when you still have to do skills for your certificate that you didn't complete in the pool yet, switch tanks, join the briefings etc... But this gets better, especially in the Advanced Open Water course!

All in all I had a wonderful time that I don't want to miss. Thank you!!!
