My father had an open heart surgery here. It is important to share how it went as it is a very dangerous and critical procedure. The hospital services were poor. As a very high ranking retired government official (non military), he had the privilege equivalent to his rank. That still required a great deal of going to many stops to get paperwork done, very much like everyone else. That was annoying but okay. The very bad part was that there was no primary case doctor. It was hard to know step by step what will happen, what is happening, what (if any) could go wrong, who has the big picture on the full multi-step process. The family met the surgeon only one time the day before surgery for less than 10 minutes. Once he was wheeled into surgery he would go straight to ICU for a few days. There was no procedure to update the family on how anything went. We had to wait around for hours in hope of catching the doctors on their lunch break. Unacceptable. Inside the ICU the button for the patient to call the nurse was unplugged, making it impossible to get help while on the ventilator. It was unclear whether his departure from ICU was because he was better or that they needed the room.
The doctors themselves were quite skilled. Very good work on the surgeons. The procedure went smoothly. He healed quickly. The doctors-in-training were very kind as well. However, the hospital's overall service design creates confusion and anxiety for both patients and family throughout the process. I hope this review helps the operations management team address these small but important improvements, and for families considering this hospital to know what to expect.
