It's a little bit expensive for Bangkok but it's ten times nicer than the average hostel. I arrived very ill and the owner personally made sure I had water and was taken care of. Also has the CUTEST and friendliest dog that will want to come sit at your feet. In a great location close to food and bars. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Lots of showers and private bathrooms. Offers laundry service on site and lots of activities. Has a nice covered patio area to sit and mingle with other guests. It's a tad tricky to find but they provide detailed instructions. Will visit again next time we're in Bangcity.

Lovely atmosphere, Neng and the team were adorable and doing their best to help at all times. Everything clean, the rooms are spacious enough (private ones at least, didn't try the dorm), and I met a lot of interesting and friendly people over there.

The place is well located, within walking distance (5-10 minutes tops) to Khao San Road, without the madness going on there.

They are much much nicer places in that area for the same or less money.
I don't understand why this hostel has such a good rating. There are no indoor common or other spaces so the only places that have AC are the bedrooms. And even there the AC gets turned off from ten am to ten pm.
So everywhere else you have the heat and mosquitoes.
The smell of sewage wafted into the washroom areas (basically just covered but "open air" hallways).
There was no hot water in the shower I used but it looked like other showers had water heaters.
Although clean, the place is old and kind of rundown looking generally. There are signs warning guests not to jump off the beds because you could break through the floor.
They offer free coffee and tea until 10am but only instant coffee and "whitener" - no real milk. No breakfast.
The staff leave at 10pm and the place is just left unlocked overnight with no staff around.
I'm glad I only booked for one night.
The price is around twice as high as it should be, I suppose because of the location they can get away with that.
About a year ago I stayed in a couple of hostels nearby. The last one I was in arranged a shuttle for my trip to the airport which picked me up at the hostel for a reasonable price and it worked out really well.
The Oasis staff told me I could take a public bus from about a half a kilometer away. But when I got there no one could tell me what time the bus would leave and there was no schedule. Since I was getting worried about missing my flight (three hours to departure), I asked around and at the tourist info booth they said I could walk down to another bus stop around 500 meters away. I got on a 59 bus going to my airport (Don Mueang) but found out it would take two hours (I would miss my flight) but luckily they got me on an express bus because they stopped it for me and I jumped into it in the middle of the street. Thanks to these nice drivers I only just arrived on time to get my flight.

Staff were nice, bed and room and AC in the room were all good. Nice, friendly atmosphere.

Definitely one of the best places I've stayed in Thailand! I've been here 3 times, I've extended and keep coming back because the best are really comfy, clean hostel and the atmosphere is amazing relaxed! Youre 10 minutes away from ko san road by walking that makes it a good location as well. Everybody is a part of the group and you will not feel lonely at all. Good recommendation for every kind of traveler. The manager Sam is a really good guy! He helps you with everything you need. Staff in general is friendly and always try to help you.

There are really no downsides to this hostel...

Decent for the price! Staff were very nice and fairly helpful when looking at things to do in Bangkok. Regardless do your own research of course.

While it doesn’t have an indoor AC’d common area (look elsewhere if you need one for e.g. serious work), there is a shaded outdoor common area which was great for when I was staying.

That outdoor area, with cool house/hip hop beats playing in the background was great for meeting other travellers and chilling out.

Facilities were basic. You have toilets and toilet paper. You don’t really need a hot shower in Bangkok (although i’m not gonna lie, once I’d left to another city and had one there it did feel very nice).

Overall cool cosy social vibe, bit more a rough-round-the-edges ‘proper’ backpackers hostel rather than a huge glitzy [sterile] place like some around.

The staff there were absolutely lovely and the location is perfect. Atmosphere of the hostel is also great, it's a great place to relax. Only problem we had there was the soundproofing of the double room, we could literally hear every word said in the common room. Other than that our stay was perfect.

Great atmosphere, this place is not a party Hostel but it's the perfect sized hostel for meeting your travel mates throughout South East Asia.
Bangkok is an excellent starting point or ending point. I've stayed here a couple of times and Lasse the Danish owner always makes me feel like home when coming back.
It has cooled aircons in the dorms and fans for outdoor lobby if it's a hot day, nice hot showers, fridge with cold water and for u to store your beer etc.
Ultimate place to get a nice Thailand experience but also have a great night's sleep.
