I covered quite a few miles in Ubon Ratchathani looking for the "right" lunch spot and was very pleased to stumble upon the ส้มตำพิมาย (I'll convert this to the more English friendly "Som Tam Pi Wai") I would describe the place as comfortable, friendly and most importantly "Thai-Authentic" (If you are seeking a chain hot pot establishment, motor down to the Central Festival). The specialty of the house is the Som Tam (better known in America as the Green Papaya Salad), but there is an extensive menu and the establishment is well attended by the Thais, which I see as a very good sign. I confess to having eaten lunch there 6 times and always for under $4 US. I recommend giving it a shot.
