This museum, which used to be a Chinese school, highlights the history of Phuket and the Chinese influence that shaped their culture.

The museum shows how the Chinese moved to Phuket, made it a tin mining center and generated revenue and jobs. The tools, utensils, attire, notable figures, family structures and the traditions of 1800s Phuket can be seen and read here.

Entry is free and it is a good place for history buffs and cultural enthusiasts to learn more about Phuket. Definitely worth a visit in old Town!

The museum which previously was a Chinese School, is now dedicated to the early history of Chinese culture in Phuket.
I personally found the museum lacking exhibits relating more to the establishment of Chinese culture in Thailand.
Tin mining was the establishment of the area, a the prominent people who established their wealth from nothing was interesting.
Still it's worth a quick visit.

The Thai Hua Museum worth a visit. It is a British-colonial style mansion built in 1934 and was a school Chinese language school. Now being a museum, you can discover the history of the first Chinese immigrants in Phuket. Very interesting.

They renovated an old school and use this ancient building as a museum.

The building itself is really grand in chino-portugese style. The exbibition tells us a about the history of the ancestors of phuket people and how the city has evolved through time.

Anyway, i think the place needs more maintenance, as some equipments , for example lightings on information board, are broken.

Personally, i think the journey of the exhibition is bit boring and not well-designed. They provided just information board despite the fact that Phuket is a town with a very rich history, so it should have been told in a more interesting way. Probably, need some more investments and creativity !

Great museum to learn of the rich history of Phuket and especially the contributions of the Chinese who came here in the 19th century. Proud of the fact after becoming successful business people, they genuinely contributed to build up Phuket and make the lives of people better. Makes me appreciate Phuket a lot more than just the beautiful beaches I came here for!

Little nice Museum representing the troublesome story of Chinese Expatriates, when they moved to Phuket to settle down. Annoying only the different fee 25 Baht for Thais and 200 for Non-Thais...!
