Stayed there in 2011 and surprise that nothing has changed. Horrible rude owner still runs that guesthouse. I lived in Thailand for 7 years and have never met as rude person as Khun Lee

We stayed on Phi Phi Island for just one night and decided to stay in this Guest House. The place is easily accessible from the port and at a good price, we expected a modest room. We slept in a quadruple room, very old and poorly maintained. In the room it is not possible to adjust the air conditioner, which works automatically and shoots cold air at 24 degrees directly on the double bed or directly on the two single beds, depending on how it is positioned. In the room the electric current works only if the electronic key is inserted, if it is not inserted nothing works. So it means that it is not possible to charge the phone or attack anything that needs electricity. We spent a sleepless night: sleeping with the air conditioner pointed directly on the face made everyone sick, but especially my mother and my brother who spent the sleepless night in the bathroom. On the two single beds we found ourselves covered in dust coming out of the dirty filters of the air conditioner placed above our head. Sleeping without an air conditioner is not possible, it is very hot and means not being able to charge your mobile phone for the following day. The next morning we talked to the owner who remained totally indifferent and uncaring, without even bothering to simply apologize. She just made sure we didn't break anything in the room (it's hard to break something in a room where everything already falls apart). A star because we could not sleep (which is the only thing we wanted from this place) and for the owner, simply another Thai lady who has absolutely no interest on giving the minimum quality of the services provided, the tourists are only wallets with legs.
Choose another guest house and enjoy Phi Phi Island in serenity. :)

Not worth the hassle. The owner was rude and seemed annoyed to have people staying there. She also requires a 1000 baht deposit for the room. The AC has no remote and is controlled by the building, so if you don't like it...that's your problem. No soap was included, and a noisy water pump went on and off all day and night, making sleeping difficult. Oh and they came and banged on our door 30 minutes before checkout, while I was in the shower, to remind me of the 10:30 checkout time.

Banthai Guesthouse is the right place if you're young, adventurous and you're looking for something cheap that provides you with the essential facilities. If you're expecting a resort then you're not in the right place. In my case I've spent six nights here, it was good. The bathroom is very small, by the way the room is big enough if you're a solo traveler. The customer care couldn't be warmer. They do take care of you and make you feel at home. Breakfast is not included but I would suggest to have it here since it's fresh, delicious and cheaper than other cafes. Bring a small hairdryer with you.!!!

Loved my stay here so we extended by an extra week. Miss Lee is an absolute legend. Funny, always laughing and creates a great atmosphere with her bubbly personality. Food is delicious, rooms are basic, cleaned everyday. Miss Lee will organise all day trips at a great rate. What I also loved is she doesn't tolerate obnoxious, rude and load people trashing the place so keeps it a comfortable environment for all guests. I've read some of the previous comments and I can see one guy left a bad review because he was asked to leave. Him and his 7 friends were asked to leave for being disrespectful, racist and dusturbing other guests. Don't believe all the 1 stars. I'd definitely 5 stars for service and above all its great value for money.

Poorest stay ever. No hot water, cockroach in the room, poor service. The worst thing is that the owner ask for a massive deposit that she will try to keep by any way. for exemple for us she was pretending that the sheet were dirty so she needed to keep that deposit (1000bath! ) to clean them! What a joke! Guest house aren't suppose to clean sheet any time ? DON'T GO THERE! There is plenty of other place better for the same money...

The place itself is okay but I didn't have the best experience with the host. First, I initially wanted to just book a single night, as I typically prefer to stay one night at a place so I can see if I like it before committing to a longer stay. She refused to let me, making some comment about how I "didn't want to pay". I'm not 100% certain about what she meant by that, but it sounded like she was accusing me of wanting to steal from her. I'm not sure what she didn't understand about me wanting to book a single night, but anyways.

Second. WiFi didn't work in my room initially. The signal was too weak to reach, and apparently the other routers weren't functioning. I asked if she had a room closer to the main area. She didn't. I had already paid for the rooms, but I was going to leave anyway, as I need to have access to the internet for my work. Just as I have my bags and I'm about to walk out, she brings me to another room. Not sure where that room was the first time I asked.

The room itself was loud and filled with mosquitoes. I wouldn't have stayed a second night if I hadn't already booked it. However I did, because I already paid, and I would have stayed a third night as I was too fatigued to look for another place. However, on the morning of the third day she just walked into my room five minutes before checkout time. I was in bed, about to go out and pay for another night. She knocks two times quickly, waits a brief second, and just opens the door. Needless to say I was a little shocked.

Anyways. Other people seem to like the place, so your own mileage may vary.
