⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ one of our favorite places to eat some local, authentic Thai food in Chiang Rai town.

Come here for the food, not for the atmosphere. It’s very basic. Just little aluminum tables with cheap chairs no nice decoration or ambience. BUT the food is great, and the people are friendly.

It’s run by an old lady that’s probably been running this place since forever with the help of her staff.

In the evening it gets really busy because lots of locals come here for dinner.

???? the food is spicy but you can tell them to make it less spicy.

???? plenty of prawn dishes on the recommended menu

???? has some mince pork with basil which was great

???? The fried noodles with chicken were also very tasty

???? The baked mushrooms are really tasty. ????

???? salty fried fish with kale and rice was good (if you like the intense flavor of salty dried fish)

Highly recommend this place for authentic Thai food.

Red pork and boiled-mixed vegetable soup (Jab-Chaay) are really nice.

But other dishes are not my type of taste. I prefer stronger taste.

Valuable price.

Muang Thong came as recommended from various trip sites. Garlic Fish was highlighted as one fave dish.

This place has always been crowded every time I passed it by for 3 nights I was here in Chiang Rai. Definitely one place that is popular with the locals.

So as far as the food, they're not bad. They're not as cheap as you expect, slightly more expensive than what you can get from the nearby Night Market Food Court.

Case in point the Garlic Fish costed 250B, whereas the night market food court charged Deep Fried Fish for 150B.

One of the oldest eateries in Chiang Rai. Old style family and late night restaurant.

Passing Chiang Rai this would be a great stop for dinner.

If there is six stars I'll give them. Not only the taste of the food but also all the staffs are very friendly and good service.

Chinese/Thai restaurant.
Really cheap menu prices.
I just had a standard fried rice with chicken. 40thb. $2. Large serve and very tasty and filling.
Extremely fast service and friendly.
Language is no barrier, just point at the menu or your ingredients.
You can also choose Seafood, Meats and Veg you want, and have cooked to your liking. The seafood and veg were just being put out for evening service so were really fresh.
I'll go again.
