Price: 50 Baht.
One of the main temples of the city. Once, was the tallest building of the kingdom, but the upper part of the pagoda fallen with an earthquake. Still, the structure is impressive, specially the elephant in the second floor of the structure.
In this place you can also see the pillar of the city, is near the entrance, it’s a important place, one of the biggest festival is about this structure.
You can also see a copy of the Emerald Buddha (here was the original place of the icon until was moved to Luang Prabang and Bangkok)

Went there in the evening. While the sanctum sanctotum was closed, i could still roam around.

A surreal experience with scenic lighting on the dome. Against the moon background, it was a spectacular visual treat.

Though right next to a main road, it was still very silent across the campus. The lying pose of Buddha in the dim light and silence is a visual i could carry as a souvenir.

The place has good number of parking lots, very neat campus with clean toilets. It's also near to good hotels and cafe's.

A great temple for a serene and divine feeling within walking distance from city.

Beautiful and intricate temple in the centre of Chiang Mai's old town. The design and the creativity is quite unique and detailed. Good place to take pictures or sit around a bit to escape the heat

Peaceful temple with amazing centuries old architecture. Main hall was closed for renovations but still plenty to see. I did not have to pay entrance fee and did not see the ticket booth as other mentioned. Monks are around if you want to drop by and ask about Buddhism, meditation or culture. Great place to visit.

What a beautiful place!
I was lucky enough to get here during the festival.
Live music, celebration, praying, food in the street.
Everything is amazing, and new for something coming from a different continent.
Everyone is nice and respectful, and it’s a universe of culture and events of interest.
Thanks for the great moment!!

Very beautiful template and ruins! The entrance is 40bhats which is fair enough. I really like to see such beauty in the middle of old city. The elephants going off the ruins walls are stunning.

I also liked the fact that this temple holds Monk chats every morning. There is a monk university which allows monks to practice English while talking to tourists and it allows people (without gender distinction) to sit with them and ask whatever one wants to know about their life, their choice, religions, beliefs, etc. I shyly approached them thinking I’d be there for some minutes and ended up talking to them for +2hrs. So interesting to hear from their experiences and their philosophy of life, very enriching! Highly recommended!

There is also a meditation center at the template where they do meditation every Sunday, if interested in that.

Very nice temple to visit. 700 + years worth of history. Many buildings have interesting architecture if you are interested in them. I visit in April thus very hot as there is not much tree shade.
