The STrips Poshtel was very nice for the price and staff very nice. Would definitely stay again if visiting Chiang Mai.(I stayed in a private room with two beds)

Pros: Laundry for 100baht. Nice area to walk in. Shower was good, just had to adjust pressure sometimes to ensure water was more hot. Air conditioner worked well. Very nice staff

Cons: Shower pressure was a little unstable, but far from bad. Breakfast was hard boiled eggs and toast, but there was plenty of places to walk for food.

Update: the manager’s response below is false. He was not at the hostel at the relevant time. I specifically booked a room for two individuals and no discount was offered. Instead of providing decent customer service, the manager is using falsehoods to maintain a rating.u003cbr/u003eThis place is terrible! I booked a private room for my partner and I. When we arrived from the airport, we were told that the room only contained a single bed. They said that we had two options: sleep in a dorm room but pay the price of a private room, or squeeze two people into a single bed (but pay an additional price of a dorm room on top of the price of a private room). They would not provide a refund or consider alternative solutions. We ended up staying at another hostel.

Best hostel ever! The staff is extremely helpful and oh so friendly. It's as if they are friends welcoming you. Bathrooms are very clean and the breakfast is amazing. Comfortable beds and the rooms get cleaned daily. Quiet place during the night so a good night sleep is guaranteed. It's situated near the night bazaar/market and it's easy to get around. Would recommend this hostel to everyone!

The hostel is nice, it's obvious the owners put care into making it a nice place. Receptionists are helpful and friendly in reserving tours and transportation. Somewhat a little confusing when I asked simple questions like "what time is the ____ market?" and received conflicting answers.

For improvement: Please hire an exterminator to get rid of the ants in the downstairs lobby. Please add curtains to the beds for privacy. Please change out the floor towels in the showers, they are consistently dirty and were never changed in the 5 nights I stayed. I also don't understand why employees/housekeeping are consistently sitting around and staring at guests. It's kind of awkward.

Please offer laundry at a comparable rate to laundry service in town: 40 baht per kg

Finally, please state up front before reservation is made, that you will be asking for a 1,000baht deposit upon arrival. I think it's an unreasonable cost of deposit, considering ants, dirty shower floor towels, staff sitting around and lack of privacy.

One of the better places to stay just outside of the Old City of Chiang Mai, nearby restaurants, shopping areas and supermarkets.

STrips is a modern-style designed hostel with private rooms and mixed/female dorms accessible by keycard past the reception counter as you walk in.

Dorms are clean and comfortable, and guests to this establishment will be able to use the dedicated bathroom stalls that come complete with hot showers, toilets and sinks.

The free breakfast is also very complete, with fruits, yogurt, muesli, bread, coffee and tea and of course lots of free water bottles.

There is also a first floor courtyard to chat with a coffee in hand and a cigarette in the other, and a common area on the same level with a television and DVDs.

My only complaint is that the air-conditioning in the dorms seem to be centrally controlled, and are very cold. There seems to be no way to control the temperatures here.

More than worth staying a night or even more as you explore Chiang Mai.

Very comfy dorm bed with individual light, plug socket and hanger. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is freshly cooked! Filtered coffee too. More like a hotel standard to their furnishings and fittings. The individual toilet and shower cubicles are proper fancy! Free shampoo dispenser inside. Booked our bus to Pai with by the front desk. Very close to the night market which is great. Free ticketed bag storage in safe place behind staff front desk door.

Incredible for the price.

This hostel is amazing, the only problem with it would be how high your expectations of a hostel become once you stay here. Amazing toilets, comfortable beds and pillows and covers. Great healthy breakfasts. Great laundry service. Free towels and free water. Doesn’t get any better.
