Update May 2022:
We visited McCormick again to assess its maternal package. The sales representative gave us a leaflet, but could not explain the details. He took us to the second floor to talk to someone who was supposed to have knowledge in the OB/GNY department. The nurses were rude and unhelpful. Assuming my wife is not Thai, they started talking about us jokingly in Thai. They seemed to presume that the doctors, the hospital, and they themselves should be trusted blindly without further concerns than the information given on the leaflet.
We are certain now that McCormick is one of the worst private hospitals in town. Its doctors and nurses have demonstrated repeatedly little professionalism nor respect for the Hippocratic Oath. We will never use it again. Period.
-----------
I am changing my review of McCormick from Recommended to Not Recommended.
Previously, we had a good experience with McCormick. The following is my comment from my previous review that I have already deleted.
"We visited McCormick Hospital for my mother-in-law's misdiagnosed Grade III/IV spondylolisthesis. We were received by Dr. A. N. with utmost professionalism. Thanks to him, the misdiagnosis from two public hospitals previously was identified, and we were happy to know that my mother-in-law's condition was more like Grade I than III/IV. If you are looking for a great orthopedist who speaks fluent English, he is highly recommended!"
However, after using McCormick a few times, especially after the latest experience, we have decided not to use it again.
First, we realized from a follow-up visit that Dr. A. N. has overcharged us for the X-ray by more than 300%. He did so by prescribing unnecessary X-ray scans.
Second, most of the doctors at McCormick DO NOT speak adequate English, whereas their arrogant receptionists claimed every time that ALL of their doctors speak fluent English.
Third, most of the doctors, especially the old ones, DO NOT want to take responsibilities for their diagnoses, so they often do not issue the medical record, nor diagnoses with their signatures by default. When we insisted that we wanted the medical record with the doctors' signatures, they asked why every single time, and took the trouble and time to explain to us why we did not need the medical record.
Last but not least, McCormick is the slowest hospital we have used in Chiang Mai, compared to more expensive ones, such as Chiang Mai Ram Hospital, and less expensive ones, such as Lanna Hospital. The long wait at McCormick is negatively correlated with the work ethic and professionalism of their staff obviously.
McCormick seems a place for under-qualified or retired doctors who just want to make money out of patients without taking responsibilities. Hence, we will no longer use it and urge anyone who is considering using it to think twice.
