This hostel is run by a family and from the beginning you are accepted into the family. You eat and hang out together. The facilities are great and they help you with advice and local info.
They also offer the only ethical elephant tour where you feed, wash and swim with elephants who are only controlled by voice, no hooks or sticks. You cannot ride them which is something you should definitely avoid at any tour as the ride-on tours mistreat the animals to train them.

Very nice and quiet hostel. When you want to relax in a nice, cheap and especially clean hostel, this is the one! The owner is very friendly and he and his staff are always willing to help you!

Less than £4 a night and the staff are very fun and happy people. Not very clean or particularly pleasant to look at but you get what you pay for. I would happily come back here though.

First of all he couldn't find my booking. Put me in the wrong type of room. Didn't show me where anything was. No sign of the included breakfast either. The place is filthy too. I cancelled my booking and went elsewhere.
Horrible place. I think they may pay people write reviews because nothing from them seems to be true.

Wualai is a home away from home. Just far enough away from waulai street you feel as though your in sanctuary of silence. But walk 100 meters and you are right in the Saturday night market. Awesome owners and staff make you want to stay forever! Thanks Taksin!

Tak and his team personify a culture of respect, love, friendliness and warmth. If you need a bed, and a family for your stay.. Don't go anywhere else ????

WARNING WARNING!!!!!!.. DON'T EVER STAY HERE.. THE GUY WHO WORKS THERE HIT MY FRIEND IN THE HEAD AND GAVE HER A CONCUSSION! HALF OF HER FACE SWELLED UP AND SHE HAD TO STAY IN HOSPITAL OVERNIGHT!!!!! HE HIT HER SO HARD SHE LOST CONSCIENCE... ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL...NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW SHOCKED I AM..IT WAS COMPLETELY UNPROVOKED
