Awesome hostel and honestly in 10 years of backpacking there were few hostels as good as this one. Very clean and nice rooms, good location, great value. Joe (the owner) is awesome and doing far more for his guests than most hostel managers. He is a great concierge, too, organizing literally anything for you within minutes. The place gets calm at a reasonable time if you want to sleep but Joe is making sure that everyone is well connected when heading out for the night. Thus, all in all a very sociable place.

Joe and his family are excellent hosts, wonderful people and the hostel itself is lovely! Great place to meet some new friends to go into town with as it's a very chill, community vibe. Clean rooms, comfy beds, curtains for privacy, and the dorms have en-suites which is actually quite nice.

Great place, highly recommended ????

STAY HERE!! Nicest hostel I have ever or will ever stay at, the facilities are excellent and the owner Joe is the nicest human ever. When we stayed on new year him and his family cooked a barbecue for EVERYONE in the hostel free of charge, then when we went out he got us tequila shots.
Go out of your way to stay here you won’t regret it!!!!

This was our favourite hostel we stayed in during our trip to Thailand. Joe and his family are incredible hosts and can't do enough to make you feel comfortable. Joe's family cooked everyone at the hostel a BBQ and even got us a birthday cake to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday! The rooms are spotless, there's free tea and coffee in the communal area which was very welcome after arriving at 6am!

Joe organised trips out for us and sorted scooter hire. We can't recommend this hostel enough and hopefully we'll be back in the near future! Cheers Joe, hopefully see you if you're ever in Liverpool ????

Family Home Chiang Mai was probably the best hostel I’ve stayed at in my entire one-month Thailand trip! It felt like home and I made some of the best memories here. There’s events every night and I never feel bored or alone as a solo backpacker. I highly recommend this hostel! 6 out of 5 stars :)

What can I say that hasn't already been said about the family home hostel. Joe the owner and facilitator of the hostel went above and beyond for my partner and I. We were initially only going to stay for 2 nights but because of how comfortable and clean the place was and how social the hostel was with the other backpackers, we decided to stay an additional 2 nights. If anyone is going to be travelling to Chiang Mai in the future book your stay at this place because you will not be disappointed.

Joe (the owner and operator) is worth the price of admission, show up with a plan and he will get it cheaper for you, show up with no plan and he’ll dial you in within a few minutes, have scooters or rental car dropped off for you, get your whisked away to cooking classes or nature exploration, nightlife, whatever you want he can take care of you or knows someone that will. Place itself is super clean and safe, a/c was clutch, rooms are amazing value, a few nice restaurants within 30 second walk
