Great for the price!
The staff are very considerate, too. They weren't able to change my reservation date (thus I paid $30 extra) so they upgraded me to a larger room with a private bathroom for my whole 2-week stay, free! That's a way better deal than $30--and just goes to show how great the staff here are.
Pros:
•The staff are friendly, helpful, and know enough English to accommodate travelers well.
•Cleaning people who will make up your bed.
•Located in a great area right outside of old town, within walking distance of everywhere, near lots of shops and cafés.
•Free wifi
•Mini-fridge and private bathrooms in their larger/more expensive rooms
Cons:
•Communal bathrooms if you're in a cheaper room
•1,000 Baht ($31 USD) room deposit for multi-week stays and larger rooms
•500 Baht ($15.50 USD) fine if you dirty a towel, blanket, or pillow
•Lots of mosquitos because the doors and windows leave plenty of room for them to get in and out
•Breakfast is not included with the room. Online I read that breakfast was included free, but apparently sometimes they have it and sometimes not? So sometimes an unexpected bonus, but a con if you're expecting it and don't get it. Still, for $15/night, it's a great deal, with or without breakfast.
Overall I'm very pleased with my experience here. My upgraded room is large, and even the smaller room I was in before had plenty of cabinet + drawer space built into the bed frame, and an AC. For $15/night, the smaller rooms with communal bathrooms are a very good deal! Because they upgraded me for free, I have an even better deal, and really appreciate the staff here.
Nothing can really be done about the mosquitoes, but if I were to suggest any changes, I'd say hanging mosquito nets for above the beds would be nice.
Other than that, no suggestions from me. :) It's a great location, with great staff. It's not a fancy hotel, but for the price it's a really great deal.
