the best hostel EVER! I stayed there over NY 2020 and had the most best experience. John and Edwin were amazing, making sure that everyone had a great time. Kai was incredibly helpful in our trip planning. The hostel itself was clean and had everything we needed. We loved it so much we stayed at the Mad Monkey in Bangkok during the last leg of our trip. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Stayed here the night after a full moon party. Staff was friendly but seemed very flustered by the chaos. They put me in a 12 bed dorm when I paid for 8. The building was not attached to the hostel and the room was more like lobby with beds. Definitely not like what was pictured online. Lastly, when I checked out, they lost my waiver and key deposit.

Update: Since the comment was left below, I would like to say that all of these issues were brought to the staff's attention. The staff was aware of how I was feeling about my stay. They were very nice and apologetic. I appreciated that. This review is simply to let others know what you see online and what they claim is not what you are signing up and paying for.

Details below from 01/2020:

There were no lock boxes in this room. I had to get the staff to find me one since the room they put me in was more of a lobby entrance with no lock on the door. They claimed it was under security but the door was always open with people constantly walking in and out from the lot behind.

The pool side and public restrooms were not clean. No one told me of any activities or great things to do on the island. The reason I booked here was that I read staff would be helpful and inviting. It didn't feel that way at all. It was more chaotic and unorganized.

Check out took them 30 minutes while being interrupted by other guests. It seemed like guests were having their own issues with staff and the lack of organization. They ended up giving up on finding my money and pulled some out of a drawer.

Fantastic hostel! Stayed here over the week of New Years 2020. Clean facilities, delicious food, and phenomenal reps! Edwin and John were amazing at guiding tours, hosting social events, and all around great for chilling with or bringing in the Full Moon Party in style! 10/10 would recommend, great place and team! John and Edwin repping on point!

This hostel has probably been one of the best hostels I have been to so far. The people who work there are amazing and they really make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. I want to thank everyone for the amazing stay, especially Edwin, John and Callum! I'll definitely come back in the future

I stayed at Mad Monkey Koh Phangan and it was absolutely wonderful! The space was gorgeous, the rooms were big, and the pool was fantastic. But the icing on the cake was the staff. Cece was amazing and made sure every single guest was having a great time. When you stay at mad monkey you aren't just a guest at a hostel, you are family! I highly suggest staying here and every other mad monkey location.

Amazing hostel with a really cool atmosphere. Perfect for solo travelling and events were particularly good (learned loads of new drinking games)! The rep Cece was amazing, super friendly and a great host! Helped with everything, took us to different events and showed us a really good time.

Food was great too.

Unreal hostel! Everyone was so welcoming. Callum was great he made sure no one was sitting by themselves and kept everyone well entertained, don’t know how he has such Great energy all the time! Johnny such a funny guy! The receptionist Guy was also amazing. Me and my cousin got our purses stolen and he lent us money until we got ourselves sorted don’t know what we would have done if he hadn’t! Over all awesome hostel.
