Great hostel to save money while still being on Sairee Beach area

When I just needed a cheap room to stay on Sairee Beach while scuba diving and going out along the Beach area. The shower head location and lock was definitely a bit weird (see below), and it wasn't the best maintained bathroom, but this hostel earns its points due to its price and location.

• Location: Excellent; Right at the North end of the Sairee beach area
Value: Very good value; One of the cheapest hostels in the area, and at an excellent location
Opportunities for improvement: Secure sink faucet so that you can turn it on with one hand. Fix hot water heater. Change location of shower head holder so that it doesn't spray directly onto the toilet paper roll area. Change the locks so that you can't be locked into or out of the room (Right now there are separate locks to lock people out, and lock people in). Add areas to hang towels inside of the bunk area

Abyss is a Nice hostel with a perfect location (in the center of sairee). We spend 3 nights there. Our room was Nice, with a big fridge and the staff gave us a lot of good advices. They offert free cofee and free tea which is very good for breakfast :)

Lovely staff. Toilets don't flush great, but someone does come in daily to clean them. Well located. Cover provided but not towels, no shower gel etc provided. Which is fine, just have your own.

This would have been a 5 star experience, but I got bedbugs here.

Pros: Great location, good customer service.

Cons: bedbugs, very thin walls (if you're a light sleeper, go somewhere else)

Great time in Abyss. I like this hostel for its good location and its friendly staff. The big tv with Netflix is also a good point for hangover days ! I recommend 100%

Always book this place when I come to Koh Tao, it's changed now though.. office is now in the diving office next door so no computer room down stairs anymore, it seems like the French have taken over here, soon to be a bakery and wine cellar.. and french guys always take controller away after they use got the computer upstairs so can't play.. still a chilled spot and I'll book here again because price is good sometimes but it's not as good as it used to be around there.
