Didn't stay here but grabbed coffee and tea. Very friendly and accommodating. They went out to get coconut milk to make a vegan version of Thai tea for us. Ended up buying a couple Thai decorations from the owner as a memento of our trip.

The hosts are very friendly.
Jip the owner is professional, knowledgeable and very helpful from arranging tours of surrounding islands or renting a motorcycle.
We enjoyed a real coffee with them every morning for around 50-70 Baht depending on your order (hot or iced)
You can get some basic breakfast here for very reasonable prices too!
Being an Aussie I brought my own vegemite and enjoyed it on some toast for 10Baht a slice.

It was very hot during our visit. Some beds have personal fans which is very necessary when you’re on the bottom bunk and it feels like the ceiling fan doesn’t reach down to your hot bed!
Additionally you need insect repellent because despite the mosquito nets, you are on the water and they get busy during dawn and dusk!

The bathrooms are basic. But in keeping with the ethos of being eco friendly.
A cold shower after a hot day isn’t so difficult to get used to.

The toilet flushes with the tipping of a bucket into the bowl.

Other than that, just come and enjoy the breeze on the wonderful common area with chilled music.
Bring a book, a friend or just an open and happy attitude!

Went in March 2016 - my brother and I stayed at this hostel. The lounge area is really neat with a suspended hammock over the pier. The crowd was young and friendly.

The downside - the dorm was fan only and my brother woke up with a really bad rash/bites on his legs. We suspect it was bed bugs. The bathroom was also not the best with some dingy showers.

Overall, it was a decent hostel but we changed after the rash/bites incident. YMMV

Peacock is a great hostel. There's a single 20 bed room I stayed in. Beds are comfy but it is a fan room. A minute walk from the boat, which makes travel easy.

The staff are lovely, really good people.

The air is bad here, due to the proximity to the boats, and the gas fumes. Everyone got a bad throat. I became a little bit ill. Bear this in mind if you're a big softy like me.

Everybody that comes to Koh Lanta, needs to come here at least once for a drink! Beautiful retro interior! The owners are incredibly friendly! Their coffee is one of the best on the island! They also have a riverside terrace in the back with a view on Koh Lanta Noi.

The owner grabbed me violently by my backpack, dragged me, pushed me down onto the ground and almost punched me in the face: he was very close to beat the hell out of me, but as i was laying on the floor i managed to squeeze myself out of the backpack and saved my face. The violence and madness i suffered was surreal. I had asked them very kindly to please replace a fruit juice that they had prepared with milk instead of water and ice and they not only refused but they did, said and kept doing horrible things to myself. I ended up crying while this guy would laugh hard at me: “nobody will believe you” he’d say. When i told them i was gonna go to the police he said that he would come with me: “you know about thai mafia?” He laughed, jerking his fist, threatening me. The woman supported and endorsed the violence, claiming i had been using their wifi (?) When i finally could leave the place, he spitted on my back while cursed me in thai, screaming so everyone around could hear him saying that i was some sort of criminal. I guess that is why No body came to me to ask me if i was ok, Tuk tuk drivers wouldn’t even accept to take me to the hotel. A guy from Austria who was leaving offered me water and then i had the chance to clarify the situation with a nice thai lady at the pier who helped me get a tuk tuk, and show some sympathy. There are plenty of cafes and hostels in Koh Lanta. Choose wisely.
Also, keep in mind that Customer is never right in Thailand.

If you wanna stay in town, with lots of places to eat (ect.) But also want an extremely chill environment. Stay here. Only negative is there is no Aircon, but even if it's just for one night it's a must stay hostel.
