Authentic southern Thai food. Original taste and ingredients. The owner is also fun to talk to. Big portion with reasonable price. Highly recommended! Everything is super delicious. Spicy but very enjoyable. I wish I can eat more.

Great taste, actually superb authenticity taste! The service is integrity with full of sense of humor. Once you go in, he will tell you right away that you may have to wait like forever wait ????????????

But you know the food is worth the wait!!!

We took 2 hrs waiting time but came out with smile / stomach is full and will surely visit again

It's been a few years since I've been back to Thailand. When I was here last I found what was then my favorite restaurant on my favorite island. I've thought about krua Dan Thai since then. I just came back to Thailand since before covid. I went to Phuket, which has the Michelin guide. I went to as many as I could and I loved every one. I went to khao lak and they had the guide there too, so I used it to find the best of the best. It was all amazing. I just arrived on Koh lanta and the first place I wanted to eat was krua Dan Thai. After following the Michelin guide for the better part of two weeks I was blown away. Krua Dan Thai was and is better than every bib gourmand restaurant I have had on this trip(around 10). It is the best Thai food I've had in Thailand. And it's just a little place on Koh lanta. I only have one complaint: as a farang I am given a different menu, which doesn't include most of what I end up eating here. My Thai girlfriend gets the real menu, and it delivers. I'm not sure of the workaround here, but I'd just suggest going and telling them to make you dishes from the Thai menu. Whatever they want to make you. I will forever crave this restaurant.

One of the best restaurants in this area. But if you don't like it spicy, you have to tell them, because otherwise they cook it in the real Thai style which is too spicy for many westerners. I really appreciate the original preparation, which is gone in many restaurants in touristic areas. Here you got the real Thai cuisine. 100 % recommended.

Excellent southern Thai food, really good.
Be careful, it’s VERY spicy! If you think you can handle a vindaloo then understand that pales into insignificance compared to this level of spiciness.

A slight glitch is that on the English language menu they don’t have the spiciest of dishes listed due to the common and somewhat annoying misconception that foreigners can’t eat spicy food. Well, I proved them wrong!

We had kua kling neua(spicy minced beef) and yam nuea (spicy beef salad), both at about 10/10 level of spiciness - delicious!

With a Thai omelette and rice, the bill was a reasonable 445 baht or about £11, so we’ll definitely be back.

Friendly staff with some English also helped.

EDIT - we returned two days later, it was so good!

The hottest southern Thai food I have ever eaten!
Soft shelled crab curry, Thai beef salad, omelette and southern Thai fish curry.
Delicious but my tongue is on fire!

We enjoyed the food, but the guy seemed a little more interested in telling us how he was voted number one and there was a definite undercurrent of arrogance.

We only went there one time because of that. (The restaurant across the road we went to 4 or 5 times, speaks volumes).
