Without a doubt, the feature is the very large pool in the center, which I LOVED. I spent most of the long weekend in the water of the pool.
The resort is off there beaten path, so you'll need a car, or plan to stay at the resort. I was in a family group of 10 people, and we had an oversized van that got us out and about each day.
We had a 3-br villa that accommodated the whole family.
The villa design was attractive and efficient. For example, each bedroom had its own large and private bathroom, but the building was showing its age. It was still in good repair, but some grout was missing, some dark spots on the walls, some minor water stains from past leaks -- all minor, but the cumulative effect was to lower the standard slightly.
The furniture was cheap and generally uncomfortable. The "sofa" was a wood and cushion affair mainly designed to provide an extra sleeping platform. The dining table and 5 chairs were inadequate for the size of the villa, and what appeared to be a large roomy bed was actually 2 beds of slightly different heights pushed together and covered by a single sheet, which made cuddling uncomfortable and awkward.
We didn't interact with the staff much, but they seemed fine. I only spoke to them twice, and both times in Thai, so I have no idea whether they spoke English, but I saw a couple groups of westerners staying there who didn't appear distressed, so i'm guessing there staff can speak at least reasonable English.
Our room came with a breakfast buffet included. I ate breakfast 3 times. The basic set up didn't change, but 2 or 3 offerings were different daily. The breakfast buffet was not very good -- it seemed to be put together on a budget. For example, instead of orange juice, they served a sugared orange drink with a bit of orange pulp floating in it, the milk was a cheap brand served warm, and the cooked foods were all prepared by someone very heavy- handed with the salt.
By contrast, the food purchased for dinner and delivered by room service was magnificent, with generous portions and delicate flavors. The room service food was skillfully prepared.
My 10-person family enjoyed the place well enough that we decided to stay an extra night, which the staff accommodated without any fuss or issues.
