This is the second time my SO and I have eaten at this restaurant. The first was a couple of years ago and it was a pleasant experience. The food was decent and the atmosphere was pleasant. Our experience last Thursday (October 29, 2020) was very much the opposite. The place was ridded with mosquitos and other bugs and we were constantly distracted while attempting to swat them away. Even though we were the only patrons, food delivery was slow and, when it did come, was disappointing. I ordered a pork chop with fried potatoes and a salad. The salad wasn't bad and the potatos, though with a small portion size, were tasty and well cooked. The pork chop was way overcooked, dry, and difficult to chew. I would give my dinner two stars. My SO had the Thai dish, yam woon sen. She gives it a reluctant two stars as well. We were both eager to finish our meal and depart quickly to get away from the bugs.

I am Austrian by birth and live in Australia. I visited Alt Heidelberg in October 2016. The food was excellent, the service was quick and drink was served first...that's how we like it. The Service girls lacked on English and did not understand one word of German. The owner seemed not very interested in customers and was listening (loud) to German news on the internet. It took me a few tries to get him answer some basic questions. Yes the restaurant is on the way out, if it doesn't get restored to its former glory.

I honestly would NOT recommend visiting this restauant. The service staff does not speak English nor German, which would be ok, for a Thai place, but not in here. Furthermore I waited 40 minutes to get a soup and and it was served together with the main course. The meals had been disgusting, the tomato soup tasted like an Instant meal Spaghetti souce and the duck was way to dry and of bad quality too.

The food is excellent but the service is slow. One order takes 30 mins to deliver. Noone has that much patience when hungry. However the staff and everything else incl ambience is very nice.

Nice dinner. Decor a bit worn and a lot of items deleted from the menu, which was a bit frustrating. Otherwise very good.

Great place. Quality all over. Especially good schnitzels and sauces.
Hope it never changes
