The Residence on Thonglor was underwhelming to say the least.
My husband and I have stayed at Alt Hotel Nana-also managed by the UHG group, and the difference in service was like night and day.
Unlike Alt Hotel, the staff at Residence on Thonglor were not very friendly, warm, or welcoming. Upon check-in I signed where I was directed to sign, and paid for our four night stay.
I was offered no information regarding breakfast, the swimming pool, the gym or any other facilities. I had to ask about the sauna, and I was informed that it was closed. I also had to inquire about the tuk tuk shuttle service that takes guests to the sky train and back, and I was informed that that was also unavailable.
The Residence on Thonglor is quite far up Sulhumvit soi 55, so unless you are in no hurry, and enjoy very long walks just to get to the sky train, the location is pretty inconvenient. We had to pay for moto taxis to get to and from the residence.
We also inquired about vegetarian options at the breakfast buffet, and no one was of any help there. We asked if we could possibly have an extra dish made for us that was vegetarian, and the employee flat out said no. I don’t understand why you would deny paying customers when it’s incredibly simple to make vegetable fried rice or stir fried veggies.
The wifi was also terrible. Even though there was a modem in our room, it would drop regularly:
We’re in Bangkok quite often for business and have stayed at our fair share of hotels in the city, and The Residence on Thonglor was quite a disappointment.
With such a wide variety and varied budget for hotels around Bangkok, I recommend to opt out of this accommodation.
