Train was late but its fine. I recommend to book ticket for aircon seat. Seats are more comfortable and fresh inside than simple wagon. Book a grab taxi to easy transfer to your hotel.

We caught the overnight train from Bangkok to this train station. The train departed Bangkok Railway Station ay 8.30pm, and arrived here at 5:45am (15 minutes behind time). We booked a sleeper car. The on-board service was excellent. Bedding was good. We slept ok. But we didn’t bring a towel to use the shower (first class carriage). This train station is located close to town. And there were several tuk tuk drivers waiting to drive people from the station.

I'm here now waiting for my train over 45 minutes late. But no hurry. The station is nice and old looking and staff friendly. Ticket to Nongkhai only 11 baht!

Udonthani is a quiet, moderately sized city in Northeast Thailand. It has enough items of interest for a two or three day experience. There’s great food, a few decent malls, and everything is slightly less expensive than Bangkok. The airport, train and bus stations are all easy to navigate.

Journey from Bangkok is estimated about 10hours. This is one of the many stops as part of Northeastern Line which ends at Nong Khai.

Nice and clean and good location for access to down town UdonThani, Not far from the railway station is the bus station for local Transport.

Nice railway station, short walk to the Central Plaza mall. Good night market each night with lots of food and shops. Small McDonald's ice cream stand within 2 min walk, a regular size McDonald's less than 10 min walk. 7/11 only 5 mins away so you can stock up on snacks for your train trip. Many people can speak English in the area.
