Interesting location, pretty deep inside middle of nowhere, yet interesting that it’s very popular despite the lunch on weekday. Food was mediocre, no dish was impressive. Price is in a mid range, not bad at all. Drinks were rather sweet. Roti was rich and tasty, as per Gu’s standard. Not a big fan of floor seating, but can be considered a good experience.

Thai simple food in old garden. Sit in the bamboo hut under coconut shade. The signature are thai southern style sweet Thai tea and thai crispy pancake.

This place is good for her roti (Thai pancakes). It’s a galore, roti served in every imaginable and unimaginable way. They have thin ones, thick ones, those smoldering in sweeten condensed milk, one that’s packed with ham and cheese and rectangular one with balls of fresh cream. Those topped with ice cream, some with fruits, some chocolate sauced and one that comes with green curry just to name several few. There is also one that’s invented by the Devil himself. Roti just swimming in its own cesspool of melted yellow margarine. That which increases your chances of heart attack by 700%. Pure evil. This is no run off the mill desert café. The setting is exquisite. Deep in local soi, one never expects to find a trendy half glasshouse that serves these sinful gastronomies. They have several bamboo huts spread out among the rows of bunds on a small plantation. Most are made to seat 2 but there are bigger ones available for larger groups. Getting to these huts requires crossing small bridges made up of 4 bamboo poles tied together. Rather precarious each crossing, and probably why they wisely do not serve alcohol here. Level of comfort sitting outdoors really depends on the weather. Each is equipped with a powerful fan that not only serves to provide some comfort, but also eliminates mosquitoes by sucking them in and slicing them into several smaller pieces. There are electrical sockets in the hut, I saw some people just chilling it out working on notebooks. The place provides free internet. The afternoon I was here, the sky was overcast with dark clouds, the cool breeze was in force but fortunately there was no downpour. Suan Guu opens till 8 in the evening, each hut has a light bulb overhanging for illumination. Do not stand up too fast because the straw roof is low at the height of an average person. Your head may crash into the bulb and the bulb may end up in your brain. Dessert, roti was definitely delicious. Proper meals, we had tom yam soup, fried chicken wings and kao soi kai (noodles with chicken in curry like gravy). The fried chicken wings were top-notched. The tom yam, well not to my liking for it was not the mainstream type. They had tomatoes in the soup and it gave too much of that raw back flavor. I am not a fan of tomatoes. The kao soi kai was a bit off too because the fermented vegetable was dumped straight into the soup and not served as a side condiment. Even after removing them, the sharp taste of preserved greens had already engulfed the curry flavors, and almost overwhelming it. Coffee, though this is kind of a café, it does not really serve fresh ground coffee. They do have a variety of sweet flavored soda, frappe, traditional Thai coffee and tea. This place is really nice when the weather is right, the food may not be overly fantastic, but her pancakes are awesome and the farmstead rural concept is just remarkably unique.
