This chedi is bigger and older than most in Aytthaya and Chiang Mai. However, it's just casually next to a highway in a big normal temple complex in Nakhon Pathom. I love it, but I feel like this place should be way more ballin than it is

The bell shaped chedi is an extraordinary piece of architecture. The first king of the Chakri dynasty had built the first Chedi and Rama IV renovated the place of worship. The bell shape of the structure shows the influence of India.

The Wat Phra Prathon Chedi is an important place for pilgrimage because it houses ashes of the Lord Buddha and the late king Rama VI. Also the bell shape is unique in Thailand, since it was the first one of that kind in Thailand.

In COVID time it is less crowded. Therefore the chedi shows its beauty in all aspects: the structure, the sculptures and the paintings are utmost beautiful. The chedi creates a unique feeling if piece and tranquility.

The Phra Prathon Chedi implements carefully the rules and regulations concerning the fight against covid. It is a safe place to go.
