The Kalae Bar is in a side soi off Chang Klan Road, the heart of Chiang Mai's night bazaar area. For years it has been very well run by 'Chipmunk' and features a wide range of drinks, meals are available, and it has a pool table, large TVs and plays an excellent range of music - as requested.

Highly recommended. I've added some pictures from Chipmunk's recent birthday party there.

We were in Chang Mai for a few days and went to this bar almost every night. The barmaids are so sweet and welcoming, you can enjoy pool, play cards and the cocktails are really good. They also teach us tips and words in Thai, you feel like home for a moment.

As at 6 Jan 2022 - Bar is Open for business effective two weeks ago.

Great little bar next door to the Night Bazaar. Staff speak English, are polite and attentive and go out of their way to make you welcome. Blues, country and easy listening music is played in the background and prices are reasonable. Large selection of Spirits are available but more importantly - the beers are COLD. Great spot for a chat and drinks.

We stayed in C/Mai for a month and this bar suited us very well, the bar is nicely run mainly by 2 women with excellent people skills. Our normal drinks were a small bucket of Sangsom and a couple of Chang beers along with a few games of pool. It is a shame people (mainly Farangs) did not heed their no smoking policy and thought it was their right that they can smoke wherever they like , and the ladies are to polite to ask them to step outside.
Lovely bar and look forward to returning next year.

Good little bar with very pleasant staff and decent background music.
Has an arrangement with Le Spice Indian Restaurant where you can order food from their menu and it will be brought to you for consumption in the bar. If you are eating in Le Spice and wan't an alcoholic drink they will deliver that to you as well. Most satisfactory as Dr Beaker would say.

Great spot for strong drinks. They have games at each table, pool, and free WiFi. They don’t serve food but you can bring some with you to enjoy with your drinks. Great relaxed vibe.
