I can’t even begin to describe how amazing our day was with this organization. We learned so much about the elephants and got to experience such a magical day with them. You get to feed them, help learn and make the medicine for them and bathe them. If you are doing the full day experience which I highly recommend, you get to trek up to a beautiful waterfall and then white water raft down the river. My 3 kids had the most amazing time. I will say that the hike up though is not easy. It will involve crossing of streams and climbing over rocks and some steepness so must be in shape. But definitely worth the price for a fun filled day.

I chose Bamboo Elephant Family Care because it was the most affordable for my budget and also reviews resoundingly attested to the great care for their elephants. Both of these rationales proved to be very true. I did the full day tour where I was picked up from my hostel, arrived to feed bananas to the elephants, walked around the jungle with them, bathed them, and made herbal vitamin balls to feed them before heading on to a gorgeous waterfall hike and lovely raft down a river - all well worth the cost. At the moment there are only 3 elephants on site because they had to bring some of the troop including the babies back to their village where there’s sufficient farmland to sustain their large appetites due to the lack of tourist funds coming in during covid. However the three elephants there felt like plenty for our experience. They were all very sweet and a little sassy, which was handled very appropriately and humanely by the kind elephant trainers. The highlight of the tour was our guide Thong who is from the Karon village and gave so much valuable insight into the history of their village tribe and elephant care. Beyond his bountiful background knowledge, he was also just a great time, often bursting out into song, playing practical jokes, and facilitating all the best photo ops. All in all, a great day!

The elephants seem very well cared for, they had a lot of space to freely walk around, we even got to watch them from further away as they explored the forest on their own. One of the elephants didn’t participate and wasn’t forced to, she just ate sugar cane in the background and came around later. They were very friendly when we got to feed them and interact with them, and all the guides and trainers seemed friendly as well. You never know exactly what goes on behind the scenes but from my experience, it seems like this is a good place for the elephants

We did the full day experience and would say it was one of the best days of our life. The hike up to the waterfall was beautiful and great fun rafting.
The guides were so knowledgeable about the elephants and obviously really cared for their animals. Absolutely lovely way to see these beautiful animals and spend time up close with them whilst supporting cruelty free sanctuary’s

A must do experience. You have a lot of opportunities to feed and pet the elephants and take pictures.
Bamboo passed away unfortunately the night before.

Perfect if you're looking for an elephant show designed for tourists with emphasis on photo ops. Skip it if you're looking for elephants living freely in sanctuary.

Offers the same activities that every other elephant tour advertises (feeding, walking, bathing, etc). Entire experience felt like a performance, especially watching the elephant handlers shouting commands at the elephants to get them moving from one activity to the next. The guides were most engaged with getting the best photos for the tourists.

Elephants seemed tired and resigned going through the motions (even bathing, where they stayed all of 5 minutes before trundling off) with the one exception of being super excited about being fed bananas.

Would 100% recommend. It was an incredible experience. We did a full day tour with hiking, rafting and finished with the elephants. Don’t hesitate to book if you are unsure!
Wont forget the day in a hurry :)
