I think we were not really lucky from the beginning with this hostel. We arrived that was pouring down with rain, after 8 hours of travelling we got to the island. We arrived at the hostel at 7.45pm and everything was shut. No lights, door locked, no guests, no staff. We worried a little bit as online it says to let them know if you arrive after 9pm and on the door there is a sign with their working hours so someone should have been there. We didn’t have money or internet on our phones but we managed to see the wifi password through the glass door and top up our phone and call the number on the door. They told us someone would come, after 20 or 30 minutes a staff member arrived and turned all the hostel on. Was around 9pm now and we were tired. Basically we were the only guests there and they didn’t know about our booking (that I had to show on my phone and that it was paid online). That night it was raining so much that the power went off (not the hotel’s fault but it didn’t help with the night that we were having as the room was really hot because the air con couldn’t work) and we couldn’t go around much. The hostel it’s not in the centre of the nightlife or near the beach. It’s not that far but as it was pouring down, we were kind of stuck there and just went to grab some beers and noddles from the shop across the road. I’m sure that this would have been a completely different experience with no rain, more guests in the hostel and if they knew about our arrival. Maybe we were just unlucky this time. The private double is ok, clean, big bed, air con, private toilet. The staff looked nice. There is a common space where you can use the fridge (that we had to plug in), a kettle, a microwave/grill (that we didn’t use because looked like was going to explode or catch fire) and a dining table (but the light in the dining room wasn’t working so was dark).
