I stayed at The Zoo for 5 days and can definitely recommend this place. It is very clean and has everything you would need. Long Beach is just around the corner, May's Kitchen is just next door as The Irish Embassy and Joker Bar, with a short walk you can be in the village where 7eleven and many other restaurants and bars are. Claudio is a very sweet, friendly and adorable man who always made sure, I had everything I needed, he literally went out of his way to make me (and another few guests) feel at home. All in all, I can definitely recommend Claudio and The Zoo to everyone!

A great place! Very friendly owner with a lot of good tips about the island and Thailand. I'll say this is probably the cheapest hostel I ever been in Thailand yet it's really clean (cleaner than most), got real beds and the fastest internet I ever experience in a hostel. It's a basic accommodation but in the category is definitely the top.

Me and a friend have spent 4 perfect nights at The Zoo! The hostel is clean and nice, basic but really comfortable, the owner was so friendly, generous and helpful, he shared with us some delicious food, helped us find a motorbike and organize our onward trip to Bangkok that went perfectly fine ! He gave us really good tips about what we could have done in Koh Lanta and Bangkok too. He is really a genuine nice guy and he got a nice and friendly cat. I'll be back to visit him next year in March. Thank you!

I only stayed one night but the owner is so kind and helpful that even if the hostel were horrible (ITS ACTUALLY GREAT) I would give five stars. Any info or help you need the owner will help you. The hostel itself is small and the social areas a little lacking but it's very cheap and the rooms were comfy. One complaint would be it's right in the road so there's constantly cars and motorbikes zooming by.

I stayed here for 6 days. The hostel is clean and well maintained. Long Beach is 200mt away if you turn left outside the main road. Secret Beach is about 2km from the hostel and can be reached if you turn right on the main road. My one suggestion is that you will need a scooter/moped if you decide to visit Koh Lanta. However, if you cannot ride a moped, like me, bicycles are available for rent. There is a little village if you turn right on the main road and walk a for about 5 mins, which has a 7-11. Owner is very charming and helpful, place is clean and beds very comfortable. I had a really good time here. I will come back.

So, first of all, I've seen comments about this place as people are reviewing a five-star hotel. Claudio's place is perfect if you're searching for a low budget stay in Koh Lanta. Period. It's in a perfect location (5 minutes walk to the beach, 100m to KoHub/motorbike rental, 4 minutes to 7-eleven, 20m to doctor, ...) and a really good value for money. You don't expect a five-star experience, but the room was good (with fans), toilets were clean, shower had room-temperature water. Breakfast was great, especially omelettes and sandwiches. Hostaria is a perfect place for a longer stay (2+ weeks) with Claudio being the great and very helpful host. Will go there again.

Great budget hostel with a very friendly owner (as long as you follow the rules!). Great location and the owner can help you book anything (from day trips to moterbike rentals to ferries off the island) at a discounted price. Air con from 6pm - 10am during peak season. Very comfortable beds and a very cute hostel cat ❤
