I stayed here back in 2016 and had previously left a review but the owner of M hostel had deleted his businesses Google page - started a new one to hide the bad reviews. Incredibly deceiving as the way the hostel is run is so far less than satisfactory. He has been known to scam people staying at the hostel by taking their passports when hiring a motorbike through him, by threatening to get the police involved if further charges aren’t paid. He will say you have damaged the motorbike even though you haven’t. I happened to be in an accident on a motorbike in 2016 and he illegally held my passport from me and charged me more money than what was required to fix the bike. He then kicked us out of the hostel and had to find somewhere else to stay. Awful service. A greedy man. The owner is called Manoon (hence ‘M’ hostel) and he leaves own reviews on this hostel to make it look better than it actually is. Don’t stay here.

Your standard hostel. Nothing unique and nothing special about this place, but it'll do the job. Rooms are of average size. A/C gets a little too cold in some rooms if your bed is right next to the unit, ask to not be placed next to the A/C if this bothers you. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There's a washing machine you may use on the premises. There are also basic outdoor toilets and showers you can use if the ones in your room are overcrowded.

Good location within 10 min walking to the beach and close to good restaurants and basic needs shopping.

Wifi works great in the lounge but so-so in many of the rooms.

The hotel room itself was very clean. Special mention should be give about the staff who is extra courteous. Rooms temperature is perfect especially during cold season. The food at the property was okay. The main bars were very well stocked. The breakfast each morning was very good. Thank you M Hostel.

I feel that the hostel attracts like minded travellers and everyone I met there from all over the world was awesome. Very clean and neat. The owner M, is a complete gentle***. Good location to the beach, mini-mart etc. There is a deposit of 500 Bht for your key on check in.

Extremely friendly staff, and they can give you all the info you might need during your stay. You can also rent scooters here. A cheap and clean hostel. Free water, coffee, and tea.

They made my stay in Lanta very comfy, and so 4 days stretched to 3 weeks.

For me it was luxurious stay. After 2 weeks in sleeping in basic bungalows or bunk beds, me and my boyfriend we booked private room (for the price of two bunk beds in most of places) It was such a change to have other furniture in room than bed only. The bed btw was massive. Balcony to dry your clothes. Big bathroom with hot shower. Fridge in the room. Free coffee and tea. Great location. Short walk to the beach. Few cheap places to eat (my favourite was opposite horse riding - usually empty small restaurant with 3 tables run by Muslim women), very good massage on the beach. Oh the guy working there - the one with pony tail -was the friendliest and most smiley person in Thailand I met. We got towels. The Aircon was working any time of the day if you put key in and they cleaned our room daily

It seems like they don't want guests at this hostel. I tried to visit and found them closed with no one at reception or answering the bell. I emailed with some questions about the facilities but got no answer. I went back the next day in the morning and found the door open but no one there, I walked around, found no one, read some of their signs saying things like towel hire costs 100bht extra, and we are a basic hostel if you want better go elsewhere, and decided that I would definitely be doing that!
