The last time I stayed in Cathay Guesthouse was probably 10 years ago, or more. CG has THE BEST breakfast with super cheap price, the receptionist had the sweetest smile and always so friendly and helpful. I wonder if she still recognises me if I return one day. I’ve stayed in CG every year without fail for at least 3 nights during my childhood. CG is near to the railway station, robinson supermarket and the malls, like ODEAN, central world and others. I can still remember the wooden window frame, all the bagpacks by the stairs waiting to go to another island, and all the short-staying backpackers from all over the world. The vibes give me comfort.

The old Cathy guesthouse had a nice travellers vibe. Now they moved 200 m to a new building it lost its vibe and the regular customers who created that vibe. Now it's just an ordinary guesthouse. Allright for 1 night:350 thb. There are nicer options in the area.

Cathay guest house located on Nipat Utith road in Hatyai, Thailand, is not a convenient place to stay due to several reasons. One is the toilets system where they have squatting pans in bathrooms with a shower fitted up to the forehead level of a person. Elderly visitors cannot use this type of squatting pan. The bathroom and rooms are very old with broken floors. The bathroom is hopeless as far as cleanliness is concerned. Some rooms have no ceiling fans. Instead, there is a pedestal fan. For the whole room, only one plug base is available and there is no any other plug base. A double bed, a small folding table, a plastic chair and a stool, a very old dressing table with a very short improvised towel rack are the only furniture one can find inside the rooms. They provide two towels and a bedsheet. Another most important thing to note here is the Wifi connection of which signals are not strong and during my stay, I experienced several breakdowns of Internet- one day the whole night there was not internet. Good points are also there with this guest house. One is that it is close to the Hatyai railway station and several malls, banks, restaurants and hotels. It maintains a restaurant within the guest house, so visitors can have their meals and drinks at their cost. They provide breakfast and lunch. The staff is friendly and room cleaning is done upon request. The room charges seem reasonable, but they still can provide a better service to the customers. Another important that every visitor to this gust house should remember is that online booking using websites such as Agoada, hotlecom, thee prices shown at the time of booking for the room you have chosen per night may be low for one night. However, you will not get the same price for the second or consecutive nights you expect to stay because they charge their normal price, for example, when you are booking they offer you a room with double bed for 250 Bhat but it’s actual price is 300 Bhat. So, don’t expect the online booking price to be the same for other nights. Given all what has been mentioned above about this guest house, your discretion will be the last.

Very basic for the price you are paying. It's not the prettiest looking room but if you are a budget traveler this place is for you. They put some charcoals in the room and the attached toilet, which I supposed it is meant to absorb smell and odor. No wardrobe cabinet but there are hangers to hang your clothes. The bed of comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. Walking distance to the train station, Robinson supermarket, Odean, Lee Gardens Plaza and Kimyong Market.

The WiFi works very well. The stand over toilets are not for me but the place is 8 usd a night so there you go. Good for a one night stay over. Good Indian food and hawker food. Easy walk from the train station.

This place is hell. Old, dirty, depressing. It has zero mantainance. We booked it because we are traveling on a budget, we arrived there at 10pm and we were lucky that we stay there only for sleeping and left at 7.30 the next morning. I expected something bad but not that bad. The guy at the reception is not even nice. This is for real the WORST hostel ever.

Comfortable and affordable stay for one night transit. No lift, WiFi out of reach in certain room. Fan only but quite cool at night because of the rain. Facilities quite old but well kept and very clean. Staff are very helpful
